@alicesky I really enjoyed his chemistry with Jessica. Both handled the scenes very well!
I love him so much as Guo Jing, I sincerely hope he has nothing to do with her tragic death. He have such a bright career ahead of him even if innocent his name is already tainted
I personally think he did a well-job as Victor in LW2. Obviously, his chemistry with Jessica was there despite the fact this is their 1st time collaborated together. This is the 1st time in a very long time that I followed TVB drama from the beginning until its last episode.
@tiffany same here. I feel like he portrayed Victor very well. He is right, blame the poor script. LW2 is not the big shot like they used to say but Moses, Michael and Jessica have done the good job here. Thats all.
" Does Moses realize that his attitude may impact viewers’ perception of an entire television station or even other actors in the industry? Many people say that Hong Kong dramas are dying, and if artistes share Moses’ attitude, then it is a matter of time before this becomes a reality" Seriously? People will suddenly think poorly of TVB because he made the comment and will usher in the downfall of TVB because he spoke his mind? He is right in some ways. While acting is ultimately his responsibility TVB does have problems. They hire and reuse bad actors and actresses too much. Miss HK is not a good source for talent. The shows are rushed. anybody who makes it till the last week of a TVB show knows how much of a mess they become. Poor writing and too many characters. TVB seems to think the only acting scenes that matter are crying scenes so they put tons in. So no, Moses won't cause tvbs downfall, they are doing that all on their own. People now can watch tv from around the world easily and finally see how bad these shows are. Things won't get better unless people speak their mind.
WThis is so tragic. I heard a while back that Ren Jiao suffered from depression. I also heard that she dabbled in things. If that is the case, drugs and depression is a lethal combination What I can't figure out is why she was on the set of Yang Xuwen's project, unless they were friends or they were dating. It seems rather suspicious. Makes me wonder if she was snuffed out, knowing that her mental state and other factors could easily be blamed. Hmmmmmmm.... Whatever the cause of her death is, it is still really sad. My thoughts and prayers are with those close to her, especially close friends and relatives.
Moses did not criticise his Line Walker character in the interview. He was just explaining that that in TV series there isn’t as much time to prepare a character conpared to movies. Also I felt his performance along with Jessica were the best in the series.
I'm ok with his portrayal of Victor. Not into the hair though lol There was not a lot of romance in the drama, but the chemistry was there. What a big contrast from LW1!
Congratulations to Eric Li and Bobo Tam. May you 2 have a very happy and loving future.
Eric acted well in OCTB. He needs to explore more opportunities outside of TVB. His talent is wasted there.
@bubbletea There's really no need to drag Angelababy into Myolie's happy news. While it's true that Angelababy and Huangxiaoming are more showy than others, maybe they know how hard it is to constantly be stalked by the paparazzi so they want their kids to grow up in normal environment. Maybe they will introduce the kid when he or she is older. Maybe they have too many enemies and are afraid of kidnapping. Lots of possibilities. Parents have different ways of treating their kids. Just because they don't show their kids in public doesn't mean the kid is ugly or is not theirs.
@coralie Not going to lie.. first 6 months will be tough, so if you can get help from your parents or inlaw, take it!!!! They may drive you crazy but at least you can sleep in a little, take a shower and eat a good meal!! Also please remember a "fed" baby is always good no matter from formula or breast milk. So don't let them push you in breast feeding if it is not working out. You can always pump and feed in bottle too! But it's really worth it.. they are super precious...Wishing you the best of luck next year with your planning!
@happybi T_T... I'm going to start family planning sometime next yr. But aside from a crying mini-me, there's very little appeal with having kids >_>
@coralie Yeah epidural is suppose to make things numb so some Mom feel having it will limit their feeling of pushing. So they feel it will prolong the birth and epidural will stay in your body for a few hours so things will be numb until it's out of your body. Child birth is very hard but having to breastfeed after is honestly even harder! And when you stop breast feeding, it's extremely painful for a few days! I remembering getting a fever the first time i stopped breast feeding after 10 months as it was so painful.
@happybi - i didn't know not having an epidural makes recovery faster lol...but still, eck! @janet72 - oh maaan, just more confetti to throw to the whole childbirth thing =_=
i quite like Sammy as an actor. sad to hear he is ungrateful person.
all the best joyce!
So happy for Myolie that Philip is such a lovely husband. Congratz to the family.
joyce had gone through rough relationships. she deserves happiness.
@coralie i am shivering just thinking of the contractions without epidural. the full brunt of labour pain is really no joke. i had epidural twice. there are many ways to love our kids and there is no need to go without epidural...during the inital stage of breastfeeding, there is constant pain due to blocked ducts and engorgement.
@cutie777 okay, I don't think you quite get it. I am saying that Andy and Mike are insanely private men and yet they, of all people posted pics of their children. Angelababy is a fame trollop. I am just wondering if the child looks like her before all her work was done. We all know she was the beast before she became beauty.
@bubbletea I think Andy are more private because I heard he’s been hiding his wife for a very long time before he decided introducing her to the world. I think the reason Angela are being famous because of her husband? I’m not too familiar with Mike so not too sure what’s his story behind. Speaking of Ruby, Aaron and Angela kid we don’t even know their name yet still. Can you believe it?
R@cutie777 Yeah, they have not shown their kids to thr public, that is true. However, Aaron and Ruby are very private so that can be expected. Even Andy and Mike He are full of recent surprises. Mike He was even seen at the airport with his wife recently and posted pics of cute Meibao. Andy posted a photo of his dsughter with him and let fans photographed her and Carol with him at a fan meeting. You don't get more tight lipped than these two. I am shocked that that fame ..ore Angelababy and her equally fame wh.re husband has not posted a photo yet. I know I am not the only one wondering.
@bubbletea there are also Aaron Kwok and Ruby Lin who haven’t show their kid to the world yet either. I’m sure lots of us are wondering how they looked like too but too bad they don’t want to show their kid to the world. Anyway congratulations to them.
SwMyolie's son is very cute. It is so nice to see her so happy. Congrats to the family of three. It is amazing to see all the families in the Chinese, Taiwanese ebiz so proud of their little ones that they are pleased to let the public see their little ones. Even Mike He and Andy Lau of all people are showing their little girls to the world. Angelababy would do just about anything to add to her fifteen minutes of (why in the world is she famous?) fame. That goes for her equally shallow husband too. Where ares her baby pixs. I have my doubts about her 'pregnancy', and if the pregnancy was real, where is the baby? Is it because the child look different than her and hubby?. Well, we know those two are the queen and king of plastic. Parents can become gorgeous by plastic means but, the child will not have the gorgeous look. We can't change hard facts. We can't change DNA. Just saying. Makes me wonder as to why this fame and photo hungry couple has not shown their bundle of joy.
@coralie your body is suppose to recover faster with no epidural but I'm with you. Give me epidural!!!
I don't understand the masochistic appeal of having natural childbirth without epidural *shudders,* but maybe by bearing the full brunt of labor, myolie feels more like a warrior. I only think that there are ways to declare love for one's children without resorting to doing this, but i am probably in the minority. congrats to myolie; she's a brave one!
Linda! Please stay off-screen!
I follow Philip's instagram and I gotta say this guy is totally in love with Myolie. He constantly talks about her, give her praises, appreciate everything she does. What he said in this article actually makes me tear up. I wish more men appreciate the pain the women goes through during childbirth, both physically and mentally. Congrats to Philip and Myolie! Baby Brendan is so cute. He will be very handsome in the future since he has such good genes.
@bubbletea now she can after she got hitched lol. but prior to that, she was still working her butt off. can't blame her though. life in TVB must've been difficult.
People will change after they get stardom...smh
@bubbletea I wonder how much time Linda has left on her contract. Maybe with the Threshold sequel, she’s fulfilling the rest of her contract and if that’s the case, she won’t have to bother with TVB anymore. That’s essentially what Ada Choi did — part of the reason why she agreed to film Oh My Grad was so she could fullfill her episode count to TVB so she can focus on other stuff and not let it hang over her head anymore.
@bubbletea True, it's basics of being a celebrity in HK isn't it? Avoid rumours, don't get into precarious situations...
@llwy12 No worries, I will just look around YouTube and see if I can find any of these interviews. Yes, TVB has a big presence in Malaysia but its impact was even greater back when TVB dramas used to air on free TV channels until the late 90s before Astro came about (back then, even the non-Chinese folks in Msia watched TVB serials and they were hooked! Nowadays they have turned to Kdramas mainly, so HK stars have lost their appeal, lol). I totally agree with you that the HK entertainment industry has fallen far from the heights of its glory days. TVB dramas of the last decade have deteriorated so much that there is hardly anything to get excited about. Hollywood is no better, with nonstop comic book hero movies, reboots and sequels. I can't be bothered to watch TVB serials these days except for a few glances here and there when I am having my dinner, or when I see actors that I like making a comeback, usually the senior ones. Like Eddie Cheung, Jessica Hsuan etc. Anyway, thanks again for trying to help! And if you stop contributing to JS then this website will be much worse off, as many posters here seem rather young and lack your in-depth knowledge about the inner workings / ugliness / silliness of TVB management, HK media etc. I assure you that your insights are much appreciated for the rest of us who are pretty much cut off from HK showbiz except through websites like JS. So thanks! :)
@iciel wake up and smell the coffee. You are an adult I assume. I am not saying Vincent is cheating. However, if you are thinking that a 'hot' woman will keep a man from cheating, you are so sadly mistaken. Look at Princess Diana, compared to Camilla. Did that keep Charles at home?. Again, I am just making a general comment. Not accusing Vincent of cheating.
@Kuks, the tabloids can make or break you, and they can be very ruthless. However, it is part Sisley's fault for having this latest gossip spread. She knows that there is gossip out there about her and Vincent, why add fuel to the fire?. She had no business letting him into her home unless other friends or coworkers were there. I know some of you will say she is an adult and she can let whoever she wants into her home, but sometimes one has to bite the bullet and do the common sense thing, which means avoiding situations that will fuel the rumors.
@felicity Aww, thanks! :-) I actually don’t post much anymore either...I mostly post just on certain articles / topics I’m interested in or if someone happens to tag me about something (it just seems like I post a lot still because I’m so long-winded so my posts are gigantic, lol). Yea, I find it hard nowadays not to be nostalgic for the good old days seeing what the entertainment industry has become (well, in a way, not just the entertainment industry but HK as a whole). I can totally understand why some people don’t post anymore – in a way, there really isn’t a whole lot worth posting about nowadays, to be honest… P.S.: Hopefully there are other JS members here from Malaysia who can perhaps comment on where you can watch that program (I’m pretty sure there is a way given that TVB has such a huge presence in Malaysia). Sorry I wasn’t much help. Good luck! :-)
Wishing her the best as it gets harder the older they get.
If it is true, I feel bad for the Aunt. If they have yet to part way, then they should.
@coralie I think Linda can live a comfortable life if she was not involved with TVB or any studio. Her husband makes decent money and she, Linda has a few notable investments. Unfortunately, in the Hong Kong ebiz industry, TVB is so dominant and has all the studio power that most of the artists are signed with them. Also a lot of artists whether they are good, excellent, or are just cheeseburger quality performers, like what they do and will continue whether they can afford to or not.
@llwy12 Aww, thanks but I am from Malaysia, not USA. Anyway, just want to say that I always enjoy reading your thoughtful and lengthy contributions to various topics on HK showbiz, and I often find myself nodding in silent agreement to your posts, lol. Like you, I am mostly nostalgic for the good old days of TVB back in the 1980s & early 1990s. It's great to still see you around Jaynestars as many of the old members from 5 to 6 years back don't post here anymore.
@felicity Hi! Depends on which country/region you live in. If you’re in the U.S. like I am, you can watch on TVB USA’s official platform: encoretvb.com. Good thing with encore TVB is that you can watch on the computer (just type in that web address) or download the app on your phone or tablet and watch there. Everything is categorized – Telling Maria would be under the variety programs section. You can also watch all of TVB’s currently airing series (and variety programs) there as well older ones that they rotate through every couple months (and yes, they've got some classics up there -- I re-watched Blood of Good and Evil, The Challenge of Life, Looking Back in Anger, all 4 Detective Investigation Files, etc on there all in the past 6 months...I haven't checked recently though so not sure if they rotated those series out already). One of the few “good” things that TVB has done in recent years is come through on their promise to make their content more accessible overseas (plus it’s probably also their way of fighting the rampant piracy of their productions with people uploading their series illegally onto other sites). If you’re in any other country aside from U.S. – sorry, I won’t be the best person to ask since I only know how it works here and in HK.
@llwy12 Hi! Can you tell me where I can watch all the Telling Maria episodes online for the new season? I really want to watch the one with the Five Tigers!
Woah Sammy, quite an accusation against him. I wondered if his aunt even got paid helping him pave the road. If not, what an ingrate!
Wow, poor Linda. The life of a TVB artiste is not all that it's cracked up to be. Plenty of men and women would probably leave behind all that glitz and glamour if they can afford to.
@linvin8 Thank you for sharing!
@lyu310 I remember the Super Trio show! It lasted for awhile. @llwy12 The Yang's Saga is a classic! TVB put in work back then producing quality telemovies. Now...I don't even know.
@lyu310 Yea, I agree…I actually love all of the Telling Maria episodes so far except for the Ada and Moses one, which I actually didn’t watch (since I don’t really care for either artist or any of the series they collaborated in). I enjoyed the Eric/Lawrence/Nat episode as well and was nearly in tears when they started talking about Lydia Shum. I think the funniest episode so far was the FOJ one (Bobby/Michael/William) and the most profound one was Wayne/Sheren episode. If you haven’t watched the 3 Tigers one, definitely try to get to it soon – it was awesome! Most of the stuff they talked about I already knew from past interviews, but it was still a lot of fun seeing the 3 of them being interviewed together – especially Michael and Felix (a “bromance” that I’ve shipped since the 80s, lol), whom we don’t get much opportunity to see together nowadays on television (though thank goodness they still collaborate quite frequently in movies). They talked about their days in Acting Class, which was hilarious -- Kent always choosing to sit in the back so he could sleep and also study his horse racing guide, Felix getting in trouble with his teachers because he was courting his future wife at the time and got called out on it, both Felix and Michael arriving to class in short shorts due to having just finished a game of soccer and their teacher yelling at them for wearing stuff like that. Also all the memories of them fighting for “sleeping space” in the bathrooms and closets at TVB studios (back when the studio was located on Broadcast Drive in the 80s.... Bobby Au Yeung had actually talked about the same thing on his episode)…memories of filming The Bund together with Chow Yun Fat (Kent was already in a supporting role while both Michael and Felix were still newbies playing kelefes) and how scared they were because Fat Gor was already a huge star but also how much they learned from him. Also Felix recounting his time filming The Lonely Hunter (the series that first put his name on the map) with Dodo Cheng and how she threw his script away the first day and after that he never walked into the studio again without having his lines fully memorized. I also loved the part where they talked about all the other senior artists they had collaborated with (i.e. Kwan Hoi San, Tang Bik Wan, Wong Sun, all of whom left us many years ago, plus other seniors still active today such as Lau Dan, Chun Wong, Kenneth Tsang, etc) and all the things they learned from them and also how grateful they are to have had the chance to work with those artists because they wouldn’t be who they are today without them (so true…and therein lies the difference with why current generation of artists aren’t as successful – many of them don’t show the same appreciation and respect for the senior artists that the older generation did). It was funny when they made Felix recount the TVB series he had filmed and he only counted a handful because there were too many to remember, lol (he actually forgot to mention one of his most popular series, Solider of Fortune, until Kent reminded him, since that series was one of Kent's most representative works, lol). The most poignant moment of course was when they talked about Barbara Yung – their memories of her and their reactions to her death 32 years ago….Kent actually handled the questions pretty well considering he was the one most impacted. I miss the old days too (ok, technically I’ve been “missing the old days” for the past 20 years already, lol). Yea, I agree that it’s probably both nostalgia and the fact that the artists and the series were so much better back then – on a larger scale though, it was also because that time period (80s/early 90s) was truly the HK entertainment industry’s “glory days” where all disciplines (television, movies, music, etc.) were strong. Michael and Felix joked about how the 5 Tigers dominated TVB in the 1980s pretty much (which is true of course) but the industry was also different back then in that the attitude was better and everyone was more united. They talked a lot about filming The Yang’s Saga and being able to bring all of TVB’s artists together to participate in a series for a common cause, something that will never happen in today’s TVB world. As I said before, the current generation artists really should watch these interviews, as they can learn so much from hearing all these veterans recount their experiences.
@llwy12 Speaking of Telling Maria, I also recently discovered it and watched the first 4 episodes in one go! I loved them all, especially the episodes with the MCs Lawrence, Eric, Nat (I watched Ms HK and Super Trio growing up), Ada and Moses, and the File of Justice trio (lovedd the series). It really takes me back; I really miss the old days. Not sure if it has to do with nostalgia or just the fact that the actors and dramas were just better back then. Probably both. Loved the friends who commented on the guests, and the old clips they showed, particularly the part where Eric Tsang talked about Fei Fei (rip).
@linvin8 Thank you!! :)
@llwy12 Should have been Ada and Lawrence Ng lol I miss the FOJ group!
@linvin8 Ah, ok…makes sense! (I should've noticed the CRHK radio logo in the picture's background...which reminds me that I need to catch up on listening to radio interviews -- got a long list that I'm behind on). I actually would be surprised if TVB didn’t have them record an episode of Telling Maria as well…most likely they will but TVB won’t air it until closer to their series coming out…after all, TVB needs every bit of “free promo” they can get right now….
@llwy12 This specific interview was for Steven's radio talkshow (he's done several with guests such as Nancy Wu and Ms Lok). But yes, perhaps since Linda's in town for some time TVB might have done a Telling Maria episode.
My guess is that this is probably for one of the Telling Maria episodes (for the latest season of her interview show, she has been inviting “best on-screen partners” to discuss their collaborations). The latest episode that aired this past weekend (episode 5, which aired yesterday) featured 3 of the 5 Tigers (Michael Miu, Felix Wong, Kent Tong – technically 4 Tigers if you count Andy Lau’s multiple video clips, lol….I watched it last night and was in TVB 80s nostalgia heaven!) I’ve been “chasing” the show (pretty much the only TVB program I’m watching nowadays) since it started last month and so far, the partnerships they’ve had are truly classics (episode 1 was Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang, episode 2 was Eric Tsang, Lawrence Cheng, Nat Chan, episode 3 was Bobby AuYeung, Michael Tao, William So, episode 4 was Moses Chan and Ada Choi, and episode 5 was the 3 Tigers). Can’t wait to see who they will feature on the next episode! Of course I could be wrong and this might end up being for some random Big Big Channel thing (since TVB has been heavily promoting the channel recently) but it’s kind of hard for me to believe TVB won’t take advantage of the opportunity to have Steven and Linda do a longer interview. They actually did the same thing with Wayne and Sheren last month – they did a mini interview for Big Big Channel, then an extended version for the first episode of Telling Maria.
@lyu310 @khoobunny I saw the interview on YouTube. They were uploaded in several clips, here's one of them - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-ahxVthbQo&t=44s :)
Poor Vincent & Sisley. Those HK paps really don't leave you alone once you're in the spotlight. Let's just hope this won't affect Vincent & Yoyo's relationship. Besides, I think Yoyo is like a thousand times hotter than a lot of the young actresses in TVB nowadays. I don't think Vincent will be distracted by any of them when he has such a hot wife at home.
@khoobunny Same, would love to watch/hear this interview as well.
The tabloids really don't like Sisley, do they. It's like they target her whenever possible. Likewise with Vincent and Yoyo's marriage... As if they want to see it fail... so sad!
cheater or not, "i wouldnt do such things to hurt my image" when this is the first thing to come up in his mind to say then it tells me that he loves his image more than his wife.
@killer02 Status and power as well maybe? Without the motivation of earning even more money then there’s no real in life. Settling for life seems fun but only initially. It will get boring very quickly. People need targets in life whether it is work, money, power or status. A lot of celebrities we hear everyday already come from rich family backgrounds. They already have the money so they pursue fame.
Where can I hear/watch this interview? Love the both of them.
@jimmyszeto This is off topic, but sometimes it makes me wonder why the richest and famous people who are multi-millionaires and billionaires still want to pursue more money? Besides big house and luxury cars, how much money do they really spend on a daily basic? Isn't there a ceiling in which they can already have everything they've ever wanted/needed? Why there is never enough money for them to settle for life? If I had a million dollars, I would have retired already and settle for life.
i hope these rumor aren't true. i hope Vincent is a devoted husband lol.
@funnlim couldn't agree more
Sisley is such a gossip queen. I know it isn't her fault. But if this is true, I hope both of them will settle their problems before doing much much more. Especially for sisley. Her career won't survive this scandal. Vincent will survive because asian community blames women more.
I take back what I said. It's getting worse and worse and worse and louder and worse. Babyjohn is a joy to watch but the story is seriously so underwhelming.
@jimmyszeto Great to hear, jimmy! OCTB is a great series and the more I read about the creative team behind the series, the more impressed I am (plus the more willing I am to support them). There's actually been quite a few updates about OCTB the past few weeks, including confirmation of a sequel in the works (not surprising since viewership numbers in Mainland have exceed 800 million mark already) and some more veterans joining the sequel (I read most of the spoilers for OCTB already so pretty much already know what will happen to most of the characters but of course will keep it to myself, lol). Since I know several people chasing this series, I decided to put up a few posts about the series on my personal blog so people who would like to discuss the series can do it there. I just put up the latest blog post about the veteran artists in the series, so you guys may want to check it out if you're interested: https://llsmusings.blogspot.com/2017/10/hk-web-series-octb-reunion-of-hk-film.html
@anon tagging you again about the newest post on my blog about OCTB, just in case, lol....
@lileric @diana80 @ivan @elizabeth FYI on the above (my response to jimmy about my blog) in case you're interested in more information about OCTB (sorry for only telling you know when the series is almost over, lol...I tried tagging you guys earlier but my comments kept going into "awaiting moderation")...
@hannah I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
@rucofan1100 oh little blind fan, you're still ignoring my main points in the prior post. Who kept asking me for proof and when i said the proof is out there in the past 6 months news reports, she refused to look them up? So what am i supposed to do? Copy all the articles for you to read? If you refuse to look up the news reports stop coming to me in circles for proof. There's none so blind as those who will not see. And that describes you to a T. Who kept pointing fingers and arguing as to who started all this aggressive to and fro arguments when she herself contributed to it in the first place by ranting to someone else that oh her poor ruco male god is being hated JUST becos he's dating and becos we're not privy to all the sordid details in his private life since he isn't telling, we all suddenly turn on him? Is it even relevant who started all this aggression when the original issue is "Why the growing negativity" ? Don't you feel embarrassed to be so long-winded? I'm tempted to think that maybe you're like 12 or 14 from the way you blindly idolise your god but your long-windedness leads me to think that you're probably one of his C9 fans who drools over this piece of meat and has her tongue hanging out when she sees him. I did not say my opinion is fact, don't put words in my mouth (keep it classy remember?). I only said that it is a fact he lied and a fact that his handling of this matter contributed to some of the growing negativity towards him, never mind whether this anger and negativity is justified which as i said is another matter altogether. I challenge you to say that he didn't lie becos you know full well he did (giving you credit here becos a fleeting thought did cross my mind that you believe his words 100%). You can continue to go around in circles or you can go several posts back and slowly digest what llwy is trying to explain to you. That will do you a lot of good and maybe knock some sense into your empty head. You should spend more time on worthier pursuits than coming here trying to slay imaginary dragons. Ruco won't thank you. He doesn't even know you exist.
Can't expect him to be a monk. They say it takes half the time the relationship existed to get over the previous person. Natalie + Tony were a couple for 2 years, but given their busy schedule, probably spent about a year of real relationship time together. 6 months is about right =/.
@aiya ahh gotcha! Thanks for the info!
@rucofan1100 That is the problem. You are so into certain actors who you idolise and praise everything they do and then you have the ones you don’t like and trash them. It shouldn’t be like that. Each performance and each case must be treated separately. A good actor does not mean he can’t perform badly and a terrible actor does not mean he can’t improve. If you can’t get your head around that then you can’t be taken seriously...
@kolo That’s why most celebrities would not deny false rumours because it news whether good or bad they are in demand by reporters. Rumoured onscreen couples can charge lot more money if attending events together. It is only when actors or actresses get rumbled on real dates until they can’t pretend anymore. Fame and money is a big motivation. I would be doing the same thing if I was a celebrity.
i can understand when a popular onscreen couple wants to collaborate in ads to earn more money. but not after what happened with ruco. as a audience i just feel embarrassment when they come agross each other again. the chemistry you see in the a fist within four walls is totally lost.
@elizabeth latest news is that it will be released around Nov, around the same time as Nirvana in Fire 2.
@coralie Dilreba was very good in her love scenes with ZBB, but lacking in everything else. She fits the cute and ditzy characters. She's got to work on her expressions for the complexed type. Just to add, I thought the post-production crew did a sloppy job. The flow was very choppy in the beginning.
@iciel Besides working hard, I think an artiste needs to have some talents in acting before he/she can move up to another level. Vincent had acted many different types of roles (characters) and he seemed to be capable of handling them well. It shows that he does have some acting talents. I hope TVB will keep promoting him, let him move on and not typecast him in the same types of characters after he becomes popular. Vincent Wong seems to be able to act good and villainous roles.
@passingby I'm the one going in circles? I asked you to show proof of how he bad mouthed ( or to use your words, "embarrassed" ) Nancy; you could have ended this with one source, but you still haven't because you can't. Your opinions don't count as facts. You are certainly allowed to communicate your opinions, but don't present them as fact. Also the only one arguing who started this first, who became aggressive first is you; I already know it was you, why would I argue it. I've quoted you, I've asked you to scroll up, and time and time again you've refused to take responsibility. I have no idea why you refused to do so; it doesn't lessen your already garbage argument. It would just prove you're a jerk with a garbage opinion. You're a jerk, just own up to it. The proof is there, just scroll up. Also I should take a page out of my fellow fans page where they advised me to not argue with the haters. I made the mistake of thinking you were reasonable, I should've spent my time arguing with @killer02. At least he's not blind to his own hate
@jimmyszeto so when I say I like Raymond lams acting, instantly that means i only like his looks. When you say that Ben has improved, and lump him with a superior actor in Vincent, I can't assume that you mean he is a competent actor. Hmmm, you're right only you're allowed to make presumptions on this thread. Also, what are you like 5? Butt licking? You're into some weird stuff. Pretty sure at this point you're not married, let alone out of middle school. All this time I've been arguing with prepubescent ben yuen fan, sigh
@happybi She is an inner-city girl from Oakland.
@aiya Is she a US citizen? I just remember her being born in Macau....
@happybi It is the only logical explanation for her putting herself back to the market. But nothing for nothing, the rich old guy here stands to gain something from this transaction as well. By marrying her, he can start smelling his Green Card fast approaching.
@coralie I have yet to watch Moonlight drawn by clouds.. I am not a PBG fan although I do love KYJ. SH was such a disappointment. What a waste of LJK. I couldn't stand IU character as she was 10x weaker than CC character in the CDrama version! And I thought CC character was bad! I actually like the girl from SS eheheheh think she's a pretty good actress. I don't mind the innocent look. hahahha
@aiya Ha! Crazy but that make perfect sense in a way!!!!
@happybi I think that surfer white loser must have squandered all her gains from her divorce; therefore she now has to leech on to another rich "old" Asian guy to recoup. LOL!!
@1nit no, because even when the main lead's face wasn't in the picture, ZLY still had a bigger face all on her own. ruby lin also had a round face in My Fair Princess (and was semi cross-eyed.) but later on, she seems like she's lost a ton of weight and got much slimmer. her face slimmed down too and doesn't look so round anymore.
@happybi haha, I was obsessed with moonlight drawn by clouds, but then MDBC got SO sappy on me, so I had to switch to something else to watch and got hooked on scarlet heart (K). but man, SH was a disaster. I only watched it cus I'm a fan of IU & LGK (the brothers were cute too though.) I tried Sungkyunkwan Scandal, but the main girl really annoyed me. a LOT of actresses try the whole 'innocent' look thing by widening their eyes and looking like a deer in the headlight. I see it a LOT. and they do it slowly. it's pretentious and uber annoying. so I couldn't finish it. even Chinese actress Sun Li does it every once in a while and she's a seasoned veteran. I really wish they'd stop doing that thing.
@msxie0714 I know the production values were very high, but I can't get over the crappy aspect of the plot. I just...can't. and this is speaking from someone who appreciates both ZBB and DRB's talents. I was greatly anticipating their collab, except the plot really let me down. oh really? I thought HXM was going to be lead throughout; what a drag it'd be to watch that! maybe I'll watch this then if he dies quickly in it :D
@tiffany ZBB was also very good in 3L3W as was DRB. Their collaboration was much anticipated on my end, but who knew the plot in TKW would turn me off so much?
@elizabeth No date yet. There was a problem with the production company vs Hunan. Apparently, Hunan bought the drama prior to the hit NIF. So, the price was cheaper than what Hu Ge is market for now.
@coralie TKW was just bad. Dilreba couldn't carry the show. ZBB was the surprise in there.
@msxie0714 @rucofan1100 @davy @coralie Does anyone have any news about that modern corporate scheming drama starring Huge and Chen Long going to air? Been anticipating it for ages.
Hi Whats the name of the actor who played baddie ( mafia head) kauchai in the movie. He used to act in tvb dramas and I enjoyed his tough guy image
@coralie the king was an aggressive and forceful personality, so it was in line with his flawed character to abduct Li'er, especially after realizing she saved him in childhood. Aside from that, the production values were very high and much better than so many of those fantasy dramas. And ZBB was really a delight to watch! Thankfully, HXM dies very quickly in NIF2. The other actors are worth watching, and I trust the integriety of this production team.
@cutie777 Don't think he look that old.. surprised she got married... as thought she was dating a surfer or something? she does look like Lillian lai...
@rucofan1100 and @coralie lord lets not talk about scarlet heart... it was so disappointing.. if you haven't watched "moon embrace the sun" kdrama.. go watch it.. it's good. Sungkyunkwan Scandal was good too.. older kdrama but good story..
@rucofan1100 I liked IU & of course Lee Joon-Gi, but the plot was ALL over the place. it was an embarrassment to call it an adapted version of the Chinese one. The Chinese one was much more logical and less scattered.
@davy yes, everyone had a purpose in Nothing Gold Can Stay, I appreciate that they're not there just to drag the plot out or add some billing hours. I think majority of the drama was cohesive, although later parts of it did turn somewhat cliché.
@msxie0714 The King's Woman makes me cringe. I like DRB and ZBB as the main leads, but the plot itself turns me off. ZBB held DRB hostage and then tried to win her over. To me, that screams Stockholm syndrome. She had no choice but to fall for her captor. I couldn't continue watching after that (plus, SO much political noise. like, really?) Nirvana in Fire 2 also stars Huang Xiao Ming as main lead. Hard pass for me. He's been looking really smarmy and smug as of late and I think it's probably due to too many shots to the face. Plus, he ain't the greatest actor either.
@iciel I don’t think that this is the case everytime. Everyone knows Vincent is married but credit is given when credit is due by the purists and non-idol based viewers. People can see Vincent’s improvements and dedication in the past years apart the ones who don’t want to admit it. I agree that once Vincent makes it big then he has a bigger fallback if he loses focus. However, the dedicated actors usually continue improving as years go by as there are always room to get better.
@rucofan1100 Once again you can’t stop twisting and lying your way through your arguments. ‘Improvement’ means if they have developed over a period of time. However bad actors were previously, they can improve if having the right attitude. So you can carry on lying, high fiving and butt licking to your way of gaining support for yourself.
I would love to share my experience to every mother and to those who wished to be a mother someday. I have been in marriage for 13 yrs with no child of my own and my husband loved me so much that he never do things without me. We do almost everything together and that made my marriage so romantic and interesting for me but i have always worried about having my own kids even if it's just one. My husband never seem to be worried or talked about it and it bothered me so much. I am really short of words of what happened later but i will try to put it in a short note because it's my greatest joy on earth. Few years back my husband fell into the hand of a gold digger who tried to take him away from me. This lady manipulated my husband and he took her side and left home to stay with her for almost a year i was alone crying day by day waiting for him to call me and come back home until it got so bad that I couldn't bear it anymore and i was about giving up on him because of these online Fake spell casters and Scams who rip off my money. This is certainly a shocking and genuine living Testimony of mine and it does goes on right now in my life. I came across some suggestions and i was convinced to work with this man after i expressed what i have been passing through to DR MUNA. He told me what i needed to know and requested for an ancient items he needed to work for me I cant get those items myself and i sent him some money for him to help me and hoping this is another Scam. But when DR MUNA called me and told me he is done with my work. My husband came back home with a surprised apology gift. I had him back and right till this moment we have loved each other again more and more and i am 6 months pregnant and i will be having my third child soon. This is an extraordinary blessing and to all soon to be a mother I am telling you nothing but my true life story and here his email ID firstname.lastname@example.org Whatsapp contact +2348071660388
@rucofan1100 Nirvana in Fire 2 will be out soon. also recommend Ode to Joy, The Surgeons, The First Half of My Life , When a Snail Falls in Love, The King's Woman.
@elizabeth Nirvana in Fire 2 will also be out very soon.
@rucofan1100 It seems your main beef is how i was perceived to be so aggressive when i asked you to read other people's posts on why the negativity towards yr idol is growing. As pointed out to you, it takes 2 hands to clap. You perceived me to be aggressive in my first post, i perceived you to be aggressive when you replied to me and from there the situation escalated to endless finger pointing. We can continue to argue over this or we can move on to the real issue of why there is growing negativity towards your idol. Whether you admit it or not, 2 facts won't change ie. 1. he's a liar and 2. his poor handling of this matter contributed a part to the negative feelings towards him (admitted by your fellow fan , no less). Whether this growing negativity towards him is justified or not is another matter altogether. Facts are facts. You cannot change facts by stubbornly trying to justify for him. Take a leaf out of your fellow fan's book and graciously accept facts and move on. Don't waste your breath and other people's time by going around in circles.
@dramas4me thanks eternal love sounds nice, for a while I was under the impression all Chinese dramas were at least 50 episodes. Sorry but ww2 dramas are quite a downer, I know I know it's hu ge, but alas...
@coralie thank you! I've actually seen scarlet heart (Korean); this nothing gold show definitely sounds intriguing given your high praise
@jimmyszeto wow you certainly like to grasp at straws don't you? The only thing that's obvious is your focus on looks, married man. Raymond and Ruco aren't up to your standards, Ben is more your type? Got it. Btw, for being a self proclaimed auteur, did you just imply ben yuen is a good actor? Wow there goes your credibility
@passingby wow it looks like someone's been doing research, going through my posts to look for dirt? Once again all you see is what you want to see; your ain't a blind fan just horribly narrow minded. You do realize the busy body I was referring to was @jimmyszeto right? Maybe you should go back and read his posts and how he knocks Ruco for the exact OPPOSITE of what you're arguing, that he ISNT TALKING ENOUGH. since you claim Ruco should talk less, why would my original comment even bother you? Yes I'm the hypocrite and somehow your inability to see your own aggression while accusing Ruco the same makes you so innocent. Since you're looking back, why don't you compare our first interaction in another Ruco article; see how more civil this could've been had you not come at me with guns blazing? Why don't you go around town talking to people the way you initiated things with me in this thread, let's see whether people want to hug you or fight you.
@coralie Maybe in Palace movie, the female's lead face is so small that ZLY face looks bigger n square? Im just comparing to the early career days 2011 to today. N in 2011 she doesn't have square face. Her face is seriously round. Unless she had injections to maintain her youthful appearance. And there were some sort of reactions during the time she filmed palace. Lol...
@bubbletea I'm sure he is very addicted to the money, fame and attention the entertainment industry brings him. This money grubbing fame seeker is obviously only staying in the show business for the fame, fortune and high social status. There's no doubt he would have quit acting a long time ago without his achieved stardom.
@killer02 Are you talking or did a sesspool or sewer just blow open?, hahaha.
@iciel you are right. I was a fan of korean idol long ago.. Many idol fans couldn't accept an idol dating other people.. Korean fans is wild craziness than hk fans..
@hannah yes Hannah, you are right. This thing should be ignored. WCL does not want it, Linda Chung does not want it, and now Ruco Chan does not want it. It has no gender and it seems to be attracted to both sexes. When the object of it's affection gets married, or is in a relationship, that celeb is the object of its wrath. It looks like THE LASS Is not FREE from its demons. I have to give it CREDITfor being the most F... messed up individual here though. Crazy scum.
@bubbletea I'm sure he is very addicted to the money, fame and attention the entertainment industry brings him. This money grubbing fame seeker is obviously only staying in the show business for the fame, fortune and high social status. There's no doubt he would have quit acting a long time ago without his achieved stardom.
@iciel i couldn't agreed more. I hope Vincent don't have same fate as Ruco .
@bubbletea i suggest you should ignore @killer02 as he/she just copy and paste in every ruco's posts and reply lol.
@loveruco I’m sure he is very addicted to the money, fame and attention the entertainment industry brings him. This money grubbing fame seeker is obviously only staying in the show business for the fame, fortune and high social status. There’s no doubt he would have quit acting a long time ago without his achieved stardom.
@coralie I agree JOTF was slightly better, at least the music was very good. In Princess Agents, I just got the feeling like every single body only wanted to take part in the drama so they can bath in a show of billion viewers so they can get all the people to remember their faces. Because Zhao Li Ying is one who can draw many many viewers. So nobody cares what role they are playing, no matter who randomly and abruptly they will appear in the show, what purpose their character serves, or what the story is, as long as they pop up in that drama they'll be remembered. So even though people are only playing some minor maids, they were kind of annoying because they don't act like maids but those who seems to want attention. Zhao Li ying was used quite bad in Princess Agents, maybe Legend of Chusen too. So I agree I also really like that one Nothing Gold Can Stay as well, because nobody acts annoying in there.I recommend that one.
@1nit I read it somewhere long ago, I can't find that one picture anymore but Zhao Liying wore some Manchurian clothes with a middle hair split like Yang Mi (Qing Chuan), they looked very identical. Maybe they're not too identical anymore since they're both aging, but especially when she played in the one modern drama with Yang Mi's husband, some netizens even joked on Viki she looked way too much like his wife. She is already too skinny in 镖行天下之牡丹阁, but you can see the flaw of her face being wider, and she was not always beautiful at every single second. Now, at every single angle, there is no flaw anywhere at all and she's look'in very pretty at every picture shots. Her skinnier waist did not lose more weight but it's just her face that always lose weight, and how does one exercise their head, i don't know. The width of a face and chin is not even based on fat but the bones, how do you make your bones shift anyway? I think she'd done some small enhancements but just not very obvious ones. And God, Loura Lou does not look beautiful, not saying she's ugly but I would not use the word "beautiful" or "pretty" to describe her while I thought both the main leads are supposed to be some great beauties in the novel. Take Chinese Paladin for example, all beautiful ladies together always make better success.
@karina @1nit - I thought she had something done to her jawline too. in the movie, "The Palace AKA Palace: Lock Sinensis," she acts as one of the villains. her face there is squarish and she had a wider jawline. of course, since then she's also lost a ton of weight, so I don't know if some of that weight loss has affected her facial structure. regardless, she has a really cute babyface, which influences her likeability. when it comes to more serious roles, though, I'm not sure she's the right match for that kind of image. if you notice, her best hits were ones where she was in a "cute" role, HQG in JOF and SS in Boss & Me
This is exactly why I don't want Vincent Wong to rise up in status. Everyone loves an underdog but when they're famous suddenly everyone turns against them. I'm not a Ruco fan and I think he's quite humbled. Also, it's quite hypocritical of some people to criticize Nancy when AFWFW came out and they all thought she tries too hard to get close to Ruco. Then all of a sudden, after Ruco is dating Phoebe, the heat is on him. Maybe his fans are just disillusioned since they can no longer have him? Lots of Korean fans are like that towards their idols too.
@rucofan1100 You should watch "Disguiser". Normally I don't like that type of drama, but I really like this one. It starred by Hu Ge, Jin Dong & Wang Kai. It's very intense. You should also watch "Eternal Love" starred by two very young actors, Xing Zhao Lin & Liang Jie. This drama has 24 episodes & only about 35 minutes long episodes. The chemistry between the lead is incredible. You go through it so quickly because it's so fun to watch it. Some parts are very funny.
@rucofan1100 so you don't have a preference for modern/ancient? if looking for serious productions, "nothing can gold can stay" is one of the better ones to come out from china this year. "empresses in the palace" is also very good, same lead actress, but an older production. "scarlet heart" (Chinese ancient version) is also somber, but realistic-ish. if looking for light-hearted, fun productions, "princess go go" is a short, web-drama that has bushels of comedy. beware: the ending sucks, but if you forgo the last 20 minutes of the finale, you're fine. "wuxin" season 1 is cute (hawt lead) and great chemistry between cast. "let's eat shan shan" is a very fluffy drama with zanilia zhao as lead. it's slower, but very cute and humorous. a lot of people enjoy "love O2O" but I find the first episode kinda pretentious, so I have difficulty continuing.
Ruco and Nancy are great on-screen couple. Their dramas have highest viewership ratings in Hong Kong and Canton. Viewers love their collaboration and it was reflected in comments in many forums. Hong Kong viewers are smart and rational. They pick those dramas which are attractive. It's naive to think that those fake reports by cheap paparazzi and bad-mouthing by small group of haters can change the reality. Will just skip all haters comments. Save time.
@rucofan1100 @rucofan1100 It’s good that you have brought that up because it shows for certain that you feel Ruco and Raymond are pretty boys. Shows your desperation and bitterness with these accusations. I have praised Vincent Wong and Benjamin Yuen’s acting improvement in previous articles. To me they are as good looking or as bad looking as Ruco and Raymond. I don’t have a problem with any of the actors and don’t care what they look like as long as they put up good performances. I have a problem with your ‘defend your idol at all costs mentality’. It’s a quite an effort considering the likes of Ruco do not know you exist. Better to spend your time thinking about your studies or work. It’s more healthy than fantasising about Ruco!
@killer02 What you are saying makes no sense. Don't all the idols want to make money?. That is why they are in the business of entertaining. A half decent face and slim body and they make millions, whether they are talented or not. Welcome to Asian entertainment. You are after Ruco like he has done something that NO othet idol has done. Please explain to me what he did that makes him so hated that no other chinese, or Asian idol has not done. Please, oh please explain his greed that far surpasses anyone else's greed.wow!, how dare Ruco chase after fame and fortune. I guess he is the only idol doing that. He is the only money grubbing fame seeker. How dare him, right?!!. The nerve of him!!!. Please explain all the sentences to me that you made about Ruco. One thing though, make sure that he is the only one that is guilty of all you spew about him. You hate this man and I can see you are blindly and angrily spewing nonsense out of your fingertips on your computer. Please explain yourself, or go and lie down before you hurt yourself. I am waiting. Stop letting your hatred speak and speak with logic and common sense, if that is possible.
@karina I thought she fit the description of a bun face. Extremely round lol... No square at all. Her face is thinner now coz she lost more weight for PA. I thought she looks better with a chubbier face
@bubbletea I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
I have taken a liking to Sebrina Chen Yao after Wuxin 1+2. I think she is quite young but has a lot of acting potential. I also quite like Zanilla as well.
@rucofan1100 I think you just like more serious dramas so stay away from the idol dramas. Things you might be interested are: "The Advisors Alliance", "Tribes & Empires", and "The Rise of the Phoenix" which will be out soon towards the end of the year. They all revolve about ancient court politics which may be your cup of tea.
@killer02 I must be mad to bother to reply to a lunatic like you, so consumed by hatred , that you dont even have an open mind to understand simple English and logic. Never mind , let me be so for the last time and I shall not be bothered anymore with a madman /madwoman. Like I said before, I and many people on this forum (I believe) pity you for your pathetic state. I have never defended Ruco and have even advised Rucofan1100 to stop defending him. I merely told you to be a better human being, stop the character assasination and get a life. Understand or not, blockhead? Faham tak, bodoh? Mingbai ma, baichi? The choice is yours. Either shut up or continue with your foolish madness and attacks. I will never bother to waste another second of my time on you again.
@rucofan1100 oh you're such a hypocrite. Please don't talk like you're never at fault for your reply to me calling me disrespectful and belittling others? You want to keep it classy? well first of all you have to walk the talk and stop stooping to finger pointing and admit your own aggression as well. As someone here pointed out, it takes two hands to clap. Did i double down? No, i was trying to keep it classy in your words and refrain from further unnecessary tension and trying to keep it classy (as you suggested) and civil. So my actions have been misconstrued and for that my earlier apology to you is retracted as well. You don't deserve it. I don't need to be anybody's best friend or whatever to be sensitive to other's feelings. Apparently, your sensitivity is only reserved for your idol thus you see the need to blindly defend him against all the haters out here trying to destroy him. As for your accusation about others badmouthing for disagreeing, take a look at yourself first. Who implied that everyone here who harbored even the remotest bad feeling about your idol was a busybody who wanted to know everything about his personal life and since he aint telling or isn't replying to questions to our satisfaction, our hatred is unleashed upon him? oh no, you didn't imply, you outright said that we all suddenly hate him just becos he's dating someone which is basically calling all of us unreasonable busybodies. Is it so difficult to admit that some of the negativity towards him is in part due to his own fault? If you can do that then i will retract the blind fan label from you. Your fellow fan admitted just as much, only you stubbornly refuse to back down. Did i say that Ruco badmouthed nancy anywhere? Go back since the beginning of our posts and quote me if you can find it. Don't start to put words in my mouth. Remember we want to keep this classy.
@dramas4me smh I've tried the watching few episodes part, assumed most of these shows were just slow starters, decided to power through, and by the end of it "why did I stick with this?" But most def gonna give it a shot
@coralie well primarily im looking to move away from tvb shows. I remember watching nirvana on fire and was just blown away by the production values and story. Figured top drawing jof would be equally good, but man that show did not need to be that long. Also three blossoms was just a chore. Preferably anything as good as nirvana, with less focus on won't they will they romances that get dragged on forever. Also preferably something dubbed in canto (heard that anti corruption show was good)
@passingby you admitting to starting this engagement wasn't even the point I made. I called you out for being unnecessarily aggressive, you refused, I showed you proof, you doubled down, and now you've completely skirted the topic. Fine, you're blind to your own behaviour, whatever let's move on. By your logic I am a blind fan because I find fault with you trashing Ruco for POTENTIALLY hurting Nancy with his words, but you are not a blind Nancy fan for mentally and emotionally attaching yourself to the Nancy psyche. "What if you were in her shoes" ummmm, who are you? Her best friend? Her sister? Why ever emotionally invest in what has been publicity fueled love triangle? Also, in reference to your whole "what if your were in her shoes", how can you be so sure she's even hurt? Your whole argument is based on opinion, your opinion. Of course opinions are what forums are for, but to bad mouth others for disagreeing? Cmon, let's keep it classy. Or you're just someone passing by, who overheard rucos comments, instantly picked up on the emotional context and potential consequences, and just had to spread the word. In that case you're clearly not a blind Nancy fan, you're just a humanitarian of the first degree, bravo Btw, you point to 6 months of articles of Ruco bad mouthing Nancy yet you continue to fail to even link to one. Just show me one, prove me wrong and end this once and for all
@loveruco I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
@loveruco You're a scum for trying to defend this fame seeker. Greedy chan is nothing more than a money hungry, pathetic fame seeker. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@rucofan1100 so given your focus on looks and your disregard for the talents of the industry's so called pretty boys, can we then infer that you are just jealous of the beauty they possess? Based on your refusal to admit your own tendency to make false accusations of me in order to support your own agenda, can we therefore infer that you enjoy talking out of your arse? For someone who prides himself on growing up watching 80s dramas and being around a long time, you've shown a complete lack of maturity in handling any type of conflict. You might as well just go the killer02 route and spam Ruco articles, and anyone you find remotely good looking (cuz for a married guy you certainly have a wandering eye for other guys)
@1nit I think ZLY did get work done to her jawline. it used to look more squared shape but if you look at her recent pics it's more "sharp". very subtle and well done ps. I think to survive and be successful in this industry, actresses have a lot of pressure to get work done unfortunately.
I have read the comments and I must say, Ruco has really gotten under a lot of people's skin. Well, I am not a fan, nor do I have anything againgts this man. What is amazing is when an idol is hated, no one sees the good he/ has in them, and when he/she is loved, they are the perfect beings. Some are even elevated to martyrdom, and are perfect, celestial beings, haha. When Ruco vehemently denied that he was not dating Nancy Wu, he was entitled to do so. All this talk about how he embartassed her is BS. The problrm is the masses had already put them together, including the paparazzi. As soon as Ruco burst their delusional bubble, everyone, including the media, was ready to tear him apart. What is amazing is another top king was denying his relationship and saying he could easily fall in love with his leading lady just to promote their love story movie. All this time the man was already married. No one called him out for that. What about a certain pretty boy who was having problems with his pretty boy soulmate at the time and had a fling with his costar. He denied they were a couple and it upset her to the point that for a long time, she stopped speaking to him. They have since made up. No one gave him a hard time ever. Ruco is not the only one who might have become arrogant. He is not the only one whose talent has faltered. He is not the only idol who seek to stay relevant and in the limelight. All celebrities do that. There are some who have taken the low road to achieve that, yet they are praised by their worshippers, which include the media people. The media can make or break you, and a lot of folks allow themselves to be manipulated by the media. A certain pretty boy was willing to give fans the impression that he and his leading lady were dating to make their drama and sequel a smashing success. Fans ate it up and even believed the pretty thing and the woman wete dating. Yes, they were dating alright. He had a man, and she had a married man. They never got any backlash when they finally denied they ever dated. You see, by then, drama one and the sewurl wete spectacular successes. The media has made a mountain out of a molehill about certain Ruco issues and the fans and haters have lapped it up and categorized the man according to how they feel about him. There is no approaching anything with an open mind anymore.
@killer02 I have never claimed that Ruco is oerfect nor expect everyone to like him. Didnt I mention that I disliked the way he handled some of his intervuews of late and that he has flaws like everyone of us. What I object to is your low handed way of repeatedly assasinating his character , calling him greedy, money grabbing , etc. I am just totally sick disgusted with a scum like you. At the same time, I also pity yoy. Your mad ranting is tyoical of the behaviour of a a woman described as " Hell knows no fury like a woman scorned". Get a life and start living, you POOR THING. That's all!!!
@1nit I meant in terms of career. Dilreba is under YM's management.
@tiffany I use to think ZLY had minor work done prior to entering entertainment industry but sae her baby photos and she just have the same look. As in the same big round eyes and double eye lids. The round face. She doesn't have the V shape chin that alot of people get PS for. I know about dilireba the new yang mi. But thats not bcoz she look like Yang mi. I personally think dilireba prettier snd more natural. Yang mi is pretty too just doesn't look natural
@loveruco Accept the reality not everyone have to like him and he isn't as prefect as you think. Regardless of what you say, celebrities don’t deserve all their fame and wealth. Greedy chan is just a money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@davy YM and ZLY do not look alike lol I don't know if ZLY altered her looks, but YM did. Currently, Dilreba is dubbed as YM's successor.
@rucofan1100 JOF is better in the sense that you still have some idea about what's going on in the background. doesn't require too much mental energy to decipher who's who and what's what. I can bear with PA's complicated political backdrop; I can tolerate PA's fantasy + wuxia aspects; I can even accept the horrible dubbing. But what I can't fathom, is why they chose Zanilia who looks like she's 90 lbs in the drama, to be some sort of tough lara croft. it's completely unrealistic and speaks volumes about what kind of vision the director had.
@rucofan1100 are you looking for ancient or modern Chinese productions? how updated are you with Chinese dramas in general? don't wanna rec stuff you've seen already. right now, I'm watching "nothing gold can stay." fantastic show and the latest to come out of China. but the plot is somewhat tortuous for the female lead. nevertheless, great character development and wonderful cast chemistry.
@rucofan1100 Like I said earlier a murderer does not have to come out saying ‘I’m a murderer’ to prove he is a murderer. It is proven by the piles beyond piles of evidence. Asking another Ruco fan for help and clear stating yourself that you have been defending Ruco for months against several members are already enough. A typical forum visitor would not bother. Not to mention the denial and abuse you have handed out. Shows the extent and how heated you feel when Ruco’s acting and behaviour has been questioned.
@rucofan1100 You are welcome. You should watch a couple episodes of the drama and decide it for yourself. What do you get to lose? It doesn't get popular and high rating for no reason. Of course there are flaws in this drama.
@davy Care to share where you got the news about zanilla zhou looking like yang mi? They look very different to me. I started noticing zanilla zhou in the new version of the return of pearl princess. And she still looks the same in my opinion. Just older and more mature. I like her be because she looks cute. Dont think her acting is the best but in comparison to some of the A line actress in China she sure is better.
@rucofan1100 Oh did i lie that i didn't start this "engagement"? Read my earlier post where i said Yes i was the one who replied to your post first. Why don't you just rise above all this finger pointing as to who started out being aggressive and come back to the original issue which is why all the recent negativity towards yr perfect idol? Do you know what irks others who are non Ruco fans? Blind fans like you who refuse to admit the faults of your idol and choose to defend him blindly despite that his faults are glaringly obvious to people who aren't blinded by this obsession. Even your fellow ruco fan on this forum has more sense and objectivity than you when he/she admitted disliking the way he conducted himself in his recent interviews and promos; that to me says a lot that even die hard fans feel that way about his recent conduct what more people like us who aren't his fans. Btw just becos we don't defend him blindly or have unflattering opinion about him doesn't make us haters. Rmbr how i pointed out to killer that he shouldn't be hating on only ruco becos he's making "easy" money since all entertainers also make "easy" money, so how can i be a hater? By the same token , just becos I've given brownie points to nancy for the way she handled the situation doesn't make me a nancy fan. In your narrow minded brain, a person can only take either one of 2 sides, hater or fan. Why don't you go back to 6 months back and dig out all the news articles and interviews that your idol gave before you come back and argue with me about whether he did embarrass his once good friend/partner? Put yourself in her shoes. Whilst you're at it, see how hypocritical this man is when he cleverly sidestepped awkward questions about him and phoebe by saying "i hv answered this question before so go back and look at my previous response" becos he knows full well that if he gave a direct answer, he would only be telling more lies to cover his previous lies. Why don't you go back even further to before last year's awards and see how shamelessly he milked the rumors to his benefit? Then come back and tell me if you still think he's faultless.
@jimmyszeto so essentially I would earn your respect by coming out and admitting to be the crazed fan you so desperately make me out to be? Nah that's ok, you can keep it. Once again looking at your rant you keep accusing me of things I've never said. When have I ever said I like his singing? When have I ever said he is so hot? You literally looked at my username and assumed it. You don't care about fact, you think and therefore it must be right. If based on how I've acted I come across as having zero credibility, then based on your behavior you are clearly deranged
@rucofan1100 If you resort to these lengths to discriminate and abuse others to defend your idols then I feel you have serious issues. I don’t think Ruco would be thankful not impressed by your ‘crazed fan’ behaviour. You would have earned a lot more respect if you came out and said ‘I love Ruco because he is hot and is my idol’. Instead you have chose to praise every role he has acted in, stated that he has the looks and can sing well, dismissed all posts that are even slightly sceptical of Ruco, sided with Ruco and not bothered about Nancy, used discrimination and abuse on members who didn’t side with you, refused to acknowledge or listen to a single point from other members however hard they tried to pursuade you, thanked/ high fived/shoe polished members to gather support for yourself and on top of that has a clear RucoFan username....... Final result is the same.‘You are a blind fan who is protective and obsessed with your idol Ruco Chan. This is based on your BEHAVIOUR. It is not required for you to say directly ‘I am blind fan’ which you think has to happen to prove that you are a blind fan basing on looks. Similarly a murderer does not have to say ‘I’m a murderer’ to prove he is a murderer. The evidence would stack up like a tower. The difference is that you now have zero credibility because you have lied all the way through and pretended that you have been unbiased.
@coralie jof was better than this? I was hoping it was gonna be the opposite. Guess I'll just skip to otcb then. Btw any recommendations on better productions? Specifically mainland Chinese ones?
@jimmyszeto you're right, discrimination against trash like yourself is still discrimination. I will take time to reflect on that
@passingby and how hard is it for you to understand your own hypocrisy? You can some how hear the aggression within rucos words but not within yours. You call Ruco a liar but you've lied this whole time about who started this engagement. How can I even take your seriously if you won't even own up to your own words? What right do you have to judge anyone else? Of course you can't find any proof because there is none. Somehow you've taken the time to theorize how Nancy might have been impacted by rucos words, surely you must be a die-hard Nancy fan then. I can't wait to see what your response will be when Nancy comes out and says "we never dated" You're right, I should listen to my fellow Ruco fan, haters gonna hate. Btw hater was referring to you if you couldn't understand that
@rucofan1100 It’s quite a low handed act to discriminate age, gender and maritial status since a large percentage of people on this forum have followed Hong Kong series and artists for many years. Some have been watching since the 1980s or early 1990s and have followed the evolvement of the industry. To discriminate certain criteria by saying they shouldn’t be on this forum is a disgrace. Some of us have known about the likes of Ruco for many years from his early days of TVB extra and ATV support/lead. We have indirectly followed his career just by watching many series and not just jumped on the bandwagon after his success so our opinions can be valuable. Many of these people you have thanked in your previous posts and visit this site on a daily basis are also mature male and/or married. These are the same people you have discriminated and ridiculed. Shows that you are a two faced hypocrite!
@rucofan1100 confused much? No matter how i clarify you will still be confused becos you simply refuse to see what I'm trying to explain. You and other die hards are still waiting for proof ? Well you can continue waiting forever simply becos that has all along been out there except you blind fans simply refuse to see (cos besides me, there's others who have commented on this point so it obviously isn't something fancy which i made up) or maybe in your own words you're all simply interested in nothing else about ruco except his great acting (which btw i suspect is bs for some of you who probably dont care for anything else beyond that they think he's Adonis reincarnated). Take your fellow fan's advice and stop defending this lost cause. Dont continue to be a blind fan becos that will ultimately do yr idol more harm than good cos his head gets bigger by the day knowing how you guys are so easily led by the nose who continue to shower him with praises for his non existing acting in tua even going on forums declaring his performance BA worthy. Continue giving him bs to hear/read and ruin him with your blind love and support. Simple enough for you to understand?
@rucofan1100 no, it's a terrible drama. poorly scripted, poorly directed, voice dubbing disaster. it's boring & way too much political background noise that doesn't make sense either. i would skip it if i were you. save yourself some time to watch better productions. plus, there were a ton of loose ends that weren't even answered by the time the drama ended. i'm actually pretty disappointed in Zanilia Zhao for choosing this project + Journey of Flower (but at least JOF was at least partially interesting.)
Oh Mee God, i think Leo Wu would be a great fit for Xiaoyu’er. he has the look down pat. i'm not sure about the other kid, but Hua Wuque doesn't have too much to express so he should be fine. i'm excited now for this adaptation. i hope they pick the right girl from Xiao Laqiao (little pepper) from Jimmy Lin's version - if they even decide to cast her at all.
@karina I don't understand it either, I know people hate Angela Baby so much because they believe she's plastic. I am not an ABB fan, and yes her old pictures do not match her current self. I believe the plastic rumor too. But that is the same thing with Zhao Liying, her old pictures are different too. Especially anything more than 5 years ago. Feng Shao Feng did not take any notice of her when they both played in 锁清秋, at that time Zhao Liying still looked a lot more like her own self. Yang mi was already popular at that time, nobody finds Zhao Liying to resemble Yang mi at all, if she does then people would call it out already. And then how come 2 years later, Yu Zheng took notice of her and let her starred in Palace II with a whole new makeover then people started calling her Yang mi? I don't believe the bold claim that she is natural, sure her changes are not as obvious as ABB but the transformation to a Yang mi duplication was not because of only an eyebrow change. Her eyebrows were fixed in 镖行天下之牡丹阁 and she did not look like Yang mi in anyway or her current self.
@jimmyszeto well you could've fooled me; you've certainly been arguing your side point for the longest time. When I told people we should be more concerned with rucos performances than his private life, Where were you? That's right, making a big fuss about how he should be answering questions. This is literally the most articulate, balanced post you've made to me, until obviously the last part. Because you obviously can't help it can you? No matter how old you are, apparently you're not above name calling, you piece of human garbage. You've also shown your true colours
@rucofan1100 My main focus is on whether series are good or not and whether actors performances are good. I did add the side note that he seems disrespectful of reporters but that’s not so important. At the end of the day, I’m frustrated when I’ve analysed series by series and judged performances but some people would just take any old rubbish performance and provide ludicrous excuses to protect their idols or put down other celebrities. There’s no need to discriminate age, gender or maritial status . All age groups can watch TV and be analytical. You have shown your true colours! Moron
@davy thanks, ummmm based on that ringing endorsement I guess it's at least background noise worthy then
@loveruco it's sad cuz even killer02 made better arguments than some of these people
@passingby I think that i, and anyone that can read, was clearly confused by the sentiment by your half baked apology. you know the one where you defend your point, defend your aggression, ignore the fact that you're the one that started things. That's some apology, bravo. And after all that you're still accusing me of being the aggressive one? Looks to me liked you're the stubborn one. Me and all the other die-hard fans are still waiting for your proof that Ruco said anything bad about Nancy btw. Cuz I guess we're still having a hard time seeing "me and Nancy Wu aren't dating" as the insult of the century
@jimmyszeto thanking others is called being polite, calling you out for your focus on his lifestyle choice of not answering questions vividly enough for your own perverse needs is just "calling a spade a spade" you're a married guy so given you're age and gender, why feel the need to go on forums and vent you're frustration over rucos interview style? Because you're whole argument against the guy is how he answers questions, not the way he lives, not the way he acts. Comment away and let others see how blinded you are by clear jealousy. (Btw, why don't you address the totally made up points you've accused me of just to advance you're point, like accusing me of being a Raymond fan for looks, us disagreeing on rucos performance on first within four walls. Since you're super fair and all)
@karina I think it's a good casting choice. The twins in the novel are also teenagers under.
@blest62 I simply replied to someone else’s post who commented on Line Walker 2. It’s nothing to do with an open or narrow mind. Use some common sense please.
@jimmyszeto Hai. Auntie...Line Walker 2 is out of place here! You don't really have an open mind! Ha, ha, ha....
@rucofan1100 Carry on ignoring our explanations and continue your deluded imagination that everyone is against Ruco. Very soon you will be be finding excuses when he doesn’t win TV King this year and why he isn’t a movie star just like Raymond. This forum isn’t a fanclub. You are trying continuously to build relationships by polishing shoes of others and repetitively thanking people who remained neutral. It’s all about posting valid points which earn respect and support and not boot licking or looking for help. Also there’s no such thing as an agreement to not commenting on each other’s posts. It’s a cowards way out. I can comment on whoevers post I want!
@rucofan1100 Dont bother to defend Ruco. Haters will remain haters no matter what we say.Just let them be and stop wasting our energy.
@karina Leo Wu's is actually marinated meat. He's been acting since he was a child.
Honestly don't get Zhao Liying's hype. She's cute and all but her acting is not that good. I like Yuan Hong but I'm not sure it's enough for me to watch this remake -__- please leave classics alone lol
@davy totally agree. Dramas (especially ancient ones) these days, with the exception of Nirvana, just doesn't have the same charm as it used too. New "actors" these days can't really act...most of them are just idols and get a pass through their looks which are 99% surgically enhanced. They need to get more creative with their story telling. I mean.. mainland dramas basically have no budget yet it can't seem to go above and beyond except for some few gems.
@rucofan1100 Yes. It's worthing watching. I won't give it a 10, but I would give an 8. It's one of the better dramas of 2017. I like all three main leads in this drama. Enjoy!
@rucofan1100 I would recommend watching some Youtube reviews on that drama if you are fine with spoilers. To me, Princess Agents was a terrible joke like Journey of Flower, they were rated so high but just about equally as boring and pointless. But it doesn't hurt to skim through because it is very skim-able, it's not one of those shows where you can sit and watch without skipping everything.
I remember Wrong Carriage, and it was a very very good show!!! I highly and strongly doubt this new version will be any good at all, I'm not saying it will not be better, I'm actually believing it won't even be a good drama. The reason, in Huang Yi's version, everything was very natural. Very little to no technology involved. The plot was very simple but it was a very hit because a lot of time, like Dream of the Red Chamber, you can totally see Chinese culture through that drama. You can see the beautiful sceneries and decorations of the ancient homes. At times, the places can look spooky because the wet forest was all real, and the dark bed rooms were real. When Tian Lei gave his new bride a tour of his house, that was amusing because of the natural places. Besides, the actors were too great at acting like people in ancient days, 70% of the time you fall in love with the ancient way and styles besides from just the storyline alone. These new actors can't act like ancient people at all, and always act like modern people, and the places for sure will not look natural enough because of technology. This is a drama that depends highly on natural stuff though, just like Huan Zhu Ge Ge. And, luckily in Fair Princess 2011 it already proved to us that not a single character was able to pull off to look "intelligent", especially the new Zi Wei and Qing'er were only dumb and whiny. They tried extra hard to act like weak women, so they failed terribly. They were nothing except weak girls, they don't look like naturally soft ancient women, but were overly pretentious extra cry babies. And then if they are too desperate to look strong then they started acting like modern people with democratic goals. The problem is, ancient people are NOT weak people whether it's female or male, and they are also not people with modern ideologies yet either. Women were soft and polite but not stupid pigs. Du Biyan is very similar to Zi Wei who is intelligent and polite, but that doesn't mean she's a Mary Sue and dumbass. And Li Yuhu does seems similar to Xiao Yanzi, and as we know, very few actresses can play a role like that without terrible fake laughs and being hell-able annoying. Most recent Chinese dramas are now making the same mistakes whether they are remakes or not. If this is only going to be 20-30% plagiarism, maybe it might pass as its own drama. But the original stuff is for sure unsurpassable.
Does anyone know if princess agents is worth watching? I bought into the journey of flower hype and was sorely disappointed. I have quite a backlog of downloaded shows to go through, just hoping for a Chinese show that's as satisfying as nirvana on fire
@killer02 I'm starting to really like you, you're at least polite and consistent, very admirable
@loveruco dude where have you been? I've been defending Ruco for two months. At this point I'm just tired, these people don't listen to reason. I've been fighting 3 on 1, but what's the point? Doesnt matter that we have facts on our side, they take one look at our usernames and just assume we're blinded by fandom. You know the truth, I know the truth, don't waste your breath
@rucofan1100 You are funny and stubborn. Why should i own up to the one who started being aggressive when I have just explained clearly to you in my last post what exactly i meant and i even said that if i offended you inadvertently, i apologise? Anyways read for yourself your first reponse to me: " you don’t agree with someone and instead of being respectful everyone starts belittling people". You went on the offensive and called me disrespectful, no? Now that you know i didn't mean to offend you in my first post, isn't it time for you to apologise? Anyways, i don't see what is wrong with being called a die hard fan. A die hard fan is loyal whilst acknowledging his/her idol's fault. I have also used this term to describe myself before when i had artistes i liked and supported.
@loveruco @rucofan1100 Sick and tired of hearing about this money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker on the news all the time. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@killer02 Hitler's propaganda chief Goebbels said during WW2, " If we tell a lie often enough, people will eventually believe it." This is your wicked strategy. You are the most low down scum to character asassinate and poison the mind of people against another fellow human being who has flaws like everyone of us here.
@rucofan1100 Ruco has not handled a few interviews well and people have chosen to interprete his words and actions in these unterviews as hurting Nancy while ignoring the other interviews which he did well in. They have also chosen to ignore the earlier interviews and clips where Nancy was very mean and cold towards Ruco. We do not know the happenings behind the scene that have brought about the current state of Ruco - Nancy relationship. Do we have a right to judge and condemn Ruco based on half truths and incomplete information? I must admit that I disliked the way he conducted himself during the promotions and interviewss lately but I am equally pissed off by the way Nancy handled the interviews regarding Ruco when he was still filming in Hengdian. Remember it takes 2 hands to clap.
@66ksc Greedy chan is just a money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@rucofan1100 I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
@m0m0 I would like to retract my earlier statement that all this negativity is due to rucos dating. Clearly it's due to his inability to handle insensitive paparazzi questioning and answers that may have, probably, most definitely caused insufferable pain to Nancy Wu. Clearly I'm not a die-hard enough fan because I've never cared enough to follow what he does off screen, but as all the NON die-hard fans on this forum have pointed out, he is an obvious pos. They've spent hours going over interviews and many hours more analyzing sound bites I've never even heard of, they are clearly the experts on this pos. @killer02, props for exposing this fraud
@passingby there's calling a spade a spade and then there's you implying I was the one that started out aggressive. Maybe you should at least own up to that one. Like I said before I have not read any of these nasty comments Ruco has said and am genuinely curious to hear them; I'm legitimately trying to understand your side. But whatever, if you don't want to engage in peaceful discussion that's fine. Here's to hoping we never have to comment on each other's posts again
@jimmyszeto nvm we'll never see eye to eye and that's fine, at least you owned up to your aggression unlike others.
@rucofan1100 @rucofan1100 I don’t see why you are so offended in being called a ‘blind fan’. So far everything Ruco has done you have found a reason or excuse for him. Even when there are some questionable things he has done, you say ‘not everyone’s a saint’. Sounds like an attribute of a blind deluded fan to me. I’m not saying that Nancy supporters aren’t ‘blind’ either. It’s just that you are a blind fan that sides with Ruco. And Yes. I am aggressive in putting my points across but that’s just my own style. It dosent mean that I don’t have good points. Everyone has their own style. Just like when you thank other posters or do not disagree with you so you can please them and form alliances. It your points are good, others on this forum will automatically agree with you and show appreciation. Does not matter how you put your point across or how many thanks you give others.
@rucofan1100 The movie industry is there to be conquered and many don’t make it.It doesn’t get handed you on a plate. Many are still doing fine. If companies have refused to cast Raymond although he has massive fanbase there is a quite simple reason. His previous movies have flopped and his performances did not receive any critical acclaim. It’s all about investments and return for the movie companies.
@karina ifkr, agree w/ u so much
@rucofan1100 yes i called you a die hard fan who can swallow every crap becos i was just calling a spade a spade. A die hard fan is different from a blind fan btw. A die hard still can see when his idol is wrong but still chooses to support nevertheless. On the other hand a blind fan refuses to see the shortcomings of his idol and chooses to turn a blind eye when others point out their idol's fault. I called you a die hard fan and that's giving you credit that you can differentiate right from wrong. If i offended you by that i owe you an apology. Unfortunately your responses forced me to downgrade you to a blind fan. Btw why do you keep asking me to show you some interviews where he put nancy down? They're all out there for the world to see, i did not make them up. It's not my fault that you didn't read such news becos in yr words you're not interested in them. Just becos you missed them doesn't mean they dont exist.
@killer02 haha i was hoping i'd find u commenting on a ruco article XD agree w/ u tho
@rucofan1100 edit: eeg has refused to promote him in their movies as per their initial agreement
@jimmyszeto "I think you may have disagreed and that was a while ago" dont put words in my mouth, i wasnt even around then. but ultimately this is the biggest problem between us, you keep assuming things about me as long as it serves your narrative. my point of contention with you was always that he doesn't owe the reporters anything; as an actor he should be concerned with bringing it onscreen (here we've both agreed his recent work has been phoned in). within regards to this article and my post to another commenter who asked why the negativity; based on what was writtern in THIS article, of course it was about his dating. and if you want to bring up past articles, have you not commented on his lack of transparency on everything, including his DATING? raymond lam: my point was always he was a solid young actor who in my opinion (once again not looking for your approval) could've been better than he is today had he not focused a great portion of his time with singing. and of course the hk movie industry has been well known as a place where young tvb actors develop their skills; look at andy lau. so him not being able to take part given the decline of the industry as a whole by the 2000's has always been a great what if. (to your point the guy's been in like 3 movies and eeg has not refused to put him in any movies) you may not agree, but as a mature married man, why so eager to engage in rudeness? i would love to talk to you about lesser known actors given that we as chinese entertainment fans are a dying breed amongst the kpop wave. my biggest problem with you has always been why you have to be so rude about getting your points across? (look at how i tried to explain my raymond viewpoint in our initial exchange and you tossed it aside because you assumed i was into his looks)
@passingby so i took your advice and went back to your first post. "are trying to tell die hard fans like you and the likes of you who can swallow every crap" is literally your first sentence to me. does that at all sound polite to you? that's more rude than anything ruco has ever said about nancy. in fact, while we're on the subject, once again, when has he EVER put nancy down? just point to one interview or statement he's done where he has somehow "put her down" in the same manner you've put me down and i'll happily go killer02 on the sob and spam all the ruco articles
@jimmyszeto Don't try to discourage me by criticizing my English. I used to think and write in English ever since my high school days. Your comment shows your didn't study English literature. This item was picked by Jaynestars becos of Ruco's popularity and not other way round as your said. Anyway, I am glad my comments are well received by other readers . Your prejudice against Ruco is exposed in this forum.
Whatever Zhou Jie. Petty man is very ugly. No wonder his career was ruined. Pointing fingers to protect your family is not disrespectful. Everything was taken out of context. We know that Wallace is polite man. For him to do that, it means things have been out of control. Keep supporting Wallace and Ruby.
@llwy12 As I am watching more episodes of OCTB 2017, I am becoming more and more impressed. There’s no bs. The crew have set out and did exactly what they had wanted to do. That is to produce a revolutional series but also bring back the old times. Most of the actors chosen are proven fantastic veterans. Blended in are a few solid up and comers and the chemistry has been brilliant due to the cast already being good friends. The script is simple, the acting is clean, scenes are acted out brilliantly with ease and it shows that a great plot is not needed to produce a good series. Good acting and chemistry is enough to pull off a gem of a series. I think OCTB has changed the landscape of Hong Kong Filming. A benchmark has been set and there will be a lot more solid web series developed in the near future. If it is lucrative I fear for TVB. Unless TVB pays higher wages and produce their own web series, all the best support actors will eventually to participate in the web series boom.
@ivan I agree.Line Walker 2 is a much better it’s original. The first one was all the usual comedy relief, action and then twists. The sequel concentrates on the deeper meaning dialogue, character backgrounds and as the series goes on, we can see their development. To compete with future online web series, TVB will have to direct more in this style. Filming has become a lot more technical and advanced these days.
@janet72 I actually like line walker 2 more than the first one . It has better character development in this one
@rucofan1100 you're right. I was the one who replied to your post but as i explained in my earlier post i didn't mean to attack you and the blind fan reference was talking about myself refusing to become one. I only wanted you to see the points llwy and jimmy were trying to explain to you. Then you replied in an aggressive manner which led me to conclude that you are the type of fans whose idol can do no wrong. What facts do u want me to prove? Isn't it a fact that he lied not once but several times? Didn't he put nancy down again and again when a simple "I've already clarified my relationship status with her in previous interviews, pl refer to my previous answer or pl stop asking about this" will suffice? Is that what a gentleman will do to save his own butt? So nancy is happily touring therefore she's fine with her former good friend throwing her aside after she has served her purpose to him? How would you like it if you were in her shoes to have her name dragged up every now and then, even as recently as a few weeks ago, to get trashed by him? Admit your idol's shortcomings where it's the truth and not try to shut out or shout others down when they speak out. That way no one will call you a blind fan.
@rucofan1100 Yes I’m a guy. I was the first in this forum to state that Ruco’s performance in ‘A fist within Four Walls’ did not deserve best actor award. It was a simple laid back character. I think you may have disagreed and that was a while ago. That was well before all these dating shenanigans. I was also the first to criticise his lack of improvement after Burning Hands and The Unholy Alliance and suggested that he should look for ways to study acting. Some have agreed with me and some have not. I haven’t mentioned his dating but didn’t like how he spoke to the press. On a bad day he would be angry if they asked him a question that he didn’t want to answer and on a good day he would palm them off with a default answer. Something like ‘I do not have much money to buy many things’. However, you seem to ignore all this and refuse to consider my points because you are so madly, blindly in love with him. Instead you would rather be deluded and rather believe that I suddenly turned into a Ruco hater because of his dating.I will say again. I have praised his acting in the past and have also criticised his acting at times. All of this was well before his relationships. I’m a married man. I don’t care what he does in his free time as long as there are good series to watch. As far as Raymond is concerned it’s not a hidden secret that his development in acting has remained almost the same for the last 10 years. The movies he has appeared in have flopped. It’s not the HK movie industry dying that caused this. To become a successful movie actor it’s all about acting. Having the most fans won’t help him too much and if he wasn’t good enough he will just get found out very quickly. After all your protective behaviour and refusal to take in any critical points on Ruco and Raymond, the conclusion I come to is that ‘you are a blind fan who will battle at all costs to defend your idols’. Whether this is based on their looks or not I cannot say but I don’t see you being so defensive when I put across my opinion on actresses or lesser known actors.
@passingby as I recall you replied to me; you're the one who went on the aggressive and called me a blind fan and now you're on the moral high horse? Maybe you should take a step back and realize that you're whole argument against Ruco the person is based purely on speculation. Show me one source that has Nancy being upset by rucos comments. Where's this truth you keep talking about? How bout some facts to back up your claim that Nancy's upset? You've literally dragged rucos name through the mud based not on fact but purely on what you speculate Nancy feels. She sure looks pretty happy traveling through Australia with her friends. Next time you see a post I've made that you don't like maybe your shouldn't reply if you don't want me to call you out on it. Maybe you should do as your name suggests and just pass on by
@rucofan1100 read yr own post and the tone you used when you replied me. That i call an attack so I responded in my second post in like manner. My first post merely stated facts which you couldn't accept and caused you to blow up in my face and accuse me of attacking you. How rational can you get? As is usual in arguments of this nature with a diehard blind fan, they don't get to see the light of day though one tries to explain in as detailed a manner as possible. Fine so you guys can accept whatever crap he dishes out because you guys are loyal fans who don't care about his personal integrity so you don't give a shiat how he lies and throws smoke around and how he milks publicity when it's in his favor. However, we as the general public who are not idol worshippers like you guys will tell you that an artiste is a role model to their fans so their personal integrity matters as much as their acting talent. One's love life is their private matter but not when one is an artiste. By which i mean that they should expect the reporters to want to dig into their personal affairs. I'm stressing this for the umpteenth time that i don't care who he's dating, it's just how he handled all this matter that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Sure he and nancy both benefited from the jobs as couple but who stood to gain more especially when he milked her fans for votes? I'm sure i don't need to give you the answer. If you only care about Ruco for his acting talent (which of late he has been lack lustre so I'm not even sure if it still exists) fine and good for you but don't expect others to be so tolerant of him as you fans. All this negativity towards him will take time to erase even if you throw a hissy fit at others who speak the truth.
@passingby you did not attack me? That's right you just implied I'm a blind fan and because of my username none of my points are valid. That's really respectful. Notice how ironic it is that you felt you've done nothing wrong in much the same manner you've accused Ruco of nonchalantly hurting Nancy. Also whose explanation did I ignore? Only llwy12 has shown me the courtesy of explaining and I thanked them for it. You and Jimmy have talked down to me this whole time, in the same manner you've accused Ruco of doing (btw, Jimmy is so blinded by his Ruco hate he agreed with killer02---that's blinded) In reference to your points, he's a liar? Fine, but since apparently I'm the lone Ruco fan on this site given my username, I can say that us Ruco fans don't care. Mainly because we have no interest in his love life and we (I) have no idea what these interviews and articles you keep referencing. He's not a gentleman? You can tell based on the way he answers insensitive questions? Fine. As a fan of his acting, as long as he can still act like a gentleman it'll do. Him milking they're relationship for profit? Not incorrect, but to blame him entirely for it? How do you know management did not set these things up? And if they were not a real couple at the time, why does Nancy get a free pass? Didn't she earn money from these events while masquerading as a couple? You think that Ruco is a chauvinistic pig based on his recent actions, fine. But why isn't my argument that one's love life is a private matter a valid one too? Why must we speculate on how Nancy is sobbing her eyes out when there's no proof she even cares what he says? What makes your points more valid than mine? Because of my username you can thump your nose at me? C'mon son
@hannah same here!!! michael miu is getting more charming with age.
i would love to see Michael Miu and Felix Wong in a drama...not Kent Tong.
the drama ended so abruptly...Ruco should have a happy ending with his family instead of just Nancy. Joel's character has more screen time and outshined Ruco a great deal. Sequels are usually not fantastic. Look at Line Walker 2. If Jazz does a sequel, please bring back Jimmy Au.
@rucofan1100 In the first place i did not attack you in my first post. I merely stated the fact that die hard fans (that includes you) think he's perfect and can do no wrong. The word "blind fan" which I used in my first post was referring to myself, that i refuse to be a blind fan. It was you who attacked people who dared to speak the truth about your idol, blaming all the "negativity" people are having about him on his dating. When someone tried to explain you that wasn't the case, you refused to see the logic and reasons behind all that "negativity", hence my advice to you to slowly read and digest what was written. If you had accepted the fair criticism about him which contributed to all that "negativity", then no one would be able to pin the "blind fan" label on you. You continued to defend him despite the fact that: 1. he's a liar. You say he's merely lying to the paps but you forgot that ultimately he's still lying to the public, fans included. 2. he isn't a gentleman. A gentleman doesn't make a lady look bad just so he will look good. I emphasize that I'm not saying he was wrong to deny or he can't deny ever dating Nancy but he obviously went for the overkill so no-one can accuse him of 2 timing. As pointed out earlier, his approach to repetitious questions about him and phoebe is "look back at my previous answers" (protecting himself and his relationship cos he knows that if he had made a direct answer he would just be telling more lies) but when asked about his rumor with Nancy, he made it a point to repeat and stress that they never dated, even in his most recent interview though the public already knows it from his nth interviews. 3. he shamelessly milked his rumors with Nancy when it was to his benefit in canvassing for votes from her fans. But when his goal was achieved, he tossed her aside like an old shoe and demoted her from good friend to merely co-worker/screen partner. That has gotta hurt whether Nancy publicly stated this or not. I'm not a Nancy fan but as llwy has pointed out, she handled all this in a gracious manner and earned her brownie points with me too. I'm not anti-Ruco, just don't like his conduct, behaviour and attitude and frustrated with fans who defend him blindly. Speaking of him purely as an actor, i also hope that he will redeem himself with more worthy roles in future. At least if i no longer like him as a person, hopefully, i can still like him as an actor.
Ugh.. no more young fresh meat actors please =_=
@jimmyszeto there's being stupid and then there's being you. my original comment(s) was for the fans of raymond, fans of hk acting. i have no idea why you even bothered to take time out of your busy ruco bashing to even comment. clearly we will forever have opposing opinions, here's to never having to comment on each other's posts again
@passingby what happened? i thought we settled our differences already in what i thought was an amicable manner. remember "ruco chan, phoebe sin deny living together"? why come back and attack me? now let's suppose that they never did date, why keep up the ruse if he already has a girlfriend? maybe he keeps repeating his denials because reporters keep bringing it up? maybe you should take your anger out on reporters for their insensitive questioning. btw, i had to reread this article, but where does he even talk about his and nancy's relationship, beyond a working one? where are all these articles where nancy's fans are up in arms and she feels humiliated? and why would you think he's disrespecting fans with his answers? these aren't fan questions, these are paparazzi questions. and as everyone seems to point out, given my username i should know because as a fan i don't care what he says to those parasites. i wanna know when he's gonna bring the level of intensity he had in brothers keeper. he probably knows his real fans don't really care about this stuff anyway, so are you just offended on nancy's behalf? @jimmyszeto you sure you a guy? cuz you sure seem to get your panties in a bunch in regards to who ruco's dating. and what are you talking about if it was another actor? have you forgotten our ongoing feud over raymond lam? and btw, why would you care how he handles media? when he's lying to reporters he's not lying to you. when he's talking down to fans, he's not talking to you (since you clearly aren't a fan; ruco was obviously one of the leads in other truth). so why take it so personally? @llwy12 i read your whole post and i appreciate the fact that you did not take a dig at me unlike the other two posters. i disagree with the whole throwing nancy under the bus angle, because i find myself in the whole "they're young(ish) and naive, let them have fun" camp; if nancy ain't complaining then i don't really care. but nonetheless, while i disagree, you are entitled to your opinion and i respect that, and once again, thanks for keeping it civil
No. I'll take TVB's version any day.
@rucofan1100 Calm down! If it was another actor you wouldn’t have made this effort. Ruco this...Phoebe that....! At the end of the day Ruco does not know that you exist. No one is making random accusations at him. Just giving our honest opinions of his recent performances and media handling. If his next performance is good I will be the first to praise him just as I wrote that he should be one of the favourites to win best support for ‘the other truth’ many years ago. Unfortunately TVB decided to stick him in the Best Actor section.
@rucofan1100 why am i not even surprised that you still fail to see what's bothering us about Ruco these dsys? Your user name says everything ie blind fan. We don't bloody care who he's datibg. It's his behaviour his attitude which bothers us. I didn't say he was wrong to deny ever dating nancy but to vehemently repeat that at different interviews without considering if he was hurting her feelings isn't what a gentleman wiould do. He could have just declined ro talk about it for the nth time maybe suggesting to the interviewer that he had already answered that question and perhaps the interviewer could look back at his ptevious interviews for the answer. After all he also chose this manner of answering when he was questioned about him and phoebe.Blind fans also fall to see how he treats everyone including them as idiots with his ridiculous lies. They will willingly lap up his lies but to those smart enough to see through this man he's disgusting and tells us his credibility is near zero. I'm indignant to be treated as a fool though you and die-hard fans are ok with it. The so-called recent negativity towards him is his own doing.
@tiffany I didn’t feel they were compatible either but like I said above (in my long-winded manifesto, lol), it’s the “message” of them being a compatible on-screen (and possibly off-screen) couple that they were trying to sell and both the media as well as general audiences bought into it, so that’s what counts (whether they truly were together or not doesn’t really matter). In that context, unfortunately for Ruco, the whole situation was definitely handled poorly….
@rucofan1100 First, just to be clear, I am neither a fan of Ruco’s nor a hater. I've enjoyed some of his series in the past and even though I agree with a few others here that his acting isn't what it once was and he's obviously lost his passion for the craft, he's still a better actor than most of the current crop of TVB actors (not including the veterans of course) -- that's a fact that I don't think anyone is trying to deny. Like jimmy said, my “soft spot” is for the veteran artists who I grew up watching back in the 80s – my interest in the “current” (more like post-2000s) generation of TVB artists is mostly the result of seeing them in TVB shows and also coverage in general HK entertainment-related news, so I tend to take a more neutral position and try as much as possible to look at the “facts” (using that word loosely of course) as they are presented and consider both sides. Looking at this objectively (the whole fan thing aside) – to me, Ruco did more than merely “embarrass” Nancy…regardless of whether they were ever together or not in real life (I personally don’t think they ever dated either to be honest), the one thing that’s for sure is that they were played up big-time as an “on screen couple” (not just collaborating in series, but also having a duet together, plus all the promo stuff and other events outside of that)…to the media and general audiences, the "message" that was very clearly sent was that there was “something” between the two of them, exacerbated by the fact that both were single and also neither one of them bothered to clarify things (again, whether they were truly together or not is irrelevant). Ruco has been in the industry long enough to know how things work (and even if he didn’t, just take a look around and he wouldn’t be short of examples from his fellow colleagues) – knowing what the public reaction would be given the popularity of their pairing (and even if they weren’t “lovers,” they were ”friends” at minimum, definitely one step above “colleague”) plus it was obvious they were still “making money” off the pairing, how hard would it have been for Ruco to give Nancy a heads-up as soon as he and Phoebe started dating so that she could’ve prepared herself for the media onslaught? As much as it may be hard to believe, the situation didn’t have to play out in the media the way it did – with just a little bit of sensitivity on Ruco’s part, the situation could’ve been resolved more tactfully with no harm done to any party. Yes, he did make mistakes with the way he handled things and no, we aren’t saying that he should be a saint but at the same time, it's hard to fault Nancy’s fans for being pissed at his insensitivity toward Nancy and coming across now as though he was “using” her previously to boost his own popularity. I don’t know how accurate the above article is (it’s from on.cc, a media outlet whose credibility I question), but if Ruco truly did answer the way the article described – about wanting to collaborate with Nancy again and trying to draw parallels to “classic” on-screen couples (which honestly is a bad comparison because their situations were nothing like his) – it kind of looks to me that he is either completely oblivious to what he did or he is giving the media lip service to get them off his back. Lastly, the piece about being a celebrity and having to answer questions from reporters and he’s just an ordinary guy like everyone else – yes, there are definitely limits to what the media should and shouldn’t be allowed to do or who they should/shouldn’t be allowed to bother (i.e. non-industry people such as family and relatives and children should absolutely be off-limits) and yes I’m all for celebrities being able to maintain their privacy -- however the reality is that he is a celebrity who is popular and currently active in the industry – as much as he may hate it, the media is going to pry into his love life and ask difficult questions because that’s what they do – it’s part of their jobs. As with all public figures, there will always be a certain expectation out there that celebrities, especially ones who are still active, need to be mindful of the fact that what they say and what they do will be judged and scrutinized by the media / general public, whether they like it or not…anyone who works in the industry knows that and if they can’t (or don’t want to) deal with it, then maybe they should consider whether a career in show business is right for them. There have been numerous celebrities in the past who left the industry because they couldn’t deal with the media scrutiny or made the conscious decision that this type of career wasn’t right for them – nothing wrong with that at all. But if you choose to stay active in the industry, then you need to be prepared for the “baggage” that comes with it and also learn to deal with it....
@rucofan1100 Wow.Wow.Wow. Sorry. It’s the dying movie industry’s fault that Raymond hasn’t become the next Tony Leung. It’s because his singing is so great that he was forced to focus on singing which prevented him from becoming the next Tony Leung. The world is against him. It’s not the lack of acting talent and lack of dedication. The guy would have made it but luck is just not on his side. It’s a cruel world. The movie industry died before Raymond could take over it....
@rucofan1100 @hannah I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
@jimmyszeto so you're telling me to do some research, but here you are saying "People don’t need to state ‘I like him because of looks’ to show preference. It is shown by the illogical arguments displaying blind support and forum usernames with the actor’s names on." how does my username of rucofan indicate i think raymond lam is good looking? so now you're telling me what i think too? aren't you making blind assumptions? where's your research? so everyone that likes raymond lam does so because he's good looking? c'mon don't be like that. also btw, wayne lai, tony leung, anthony wong, sean lau developed into great actors as they transitioned into film. unfortunately for raymond, his stardom coincided with the death of the hk film market, and by 2008 when he achieved singing success, he focused more and more of his energy on singing (a distraction that wayne, sean, tony, anthony did not have) which is why i continue to think what could've been. in terms of your views on acting, it seems like you may have your foot to far up your arse to know what good acting is
@passingby what's with all the negativity on this forum as of late? you don't agree with someone and instead of being respectful everyone starts belittling people? maybe you should also read slowly and realize that rucofan is literally just a name; it's not my life. i'm not a diehard ruco fan. in 2009 it would've been waynefan, in 2012 it would've been cholam fan, in 2014 it would've been johnsonfan. i mean you've been passing by for a long time, yet you're still here amirite? diehard fan? no. do i live and die by ruco? no. am i fan of his acting? absolutely, though in 2018, i'll probably be converting to vincentfan. now you pointed out that he has embarrassed nancy wu by denying ever dating her, but...how is that wrong in any way? if he never dated her, why should he NOT deny it? they've literally never come out as a couple. i'm sure you and a lot of people think they probably dated but without concrete proof, why not believe him? now let's assume they were single all along and were only playing it up for ratings, underhanded yes but only if you care about that tabloid stuff. i had no idea they were rumored to be with each other until i read the articles posted on this site. now that he is in a confirmed relationship, for the sake of said relationship with phoebe why not distance himself from nancy? why not give phoebe the peace of mind that he's loyal? why get in the way of potential nancy suitors? it just bothers me why everyone seems to hate on ruco for the simple act of dating. hate on him for his phone in acting, hate on him for playing 20 year olds, hate on him for having really small eyes and not looking photogenic when he smiles, but c'mon let the guy date. remember when you were dating and you had to answer every stupid question about your relationship to your friends and family? how did it feel? now imagine having to answer those same questions everyday but to random strangers. how do you think he feels? and let's look past the whole "but he's a celeb, that's his job!" because it would take a saint to be able to look past that stuff. and i'm sure you'll agree ruco chan ain't no saint. he's just a human being, making the same mistakes you and i are prone to. relationships are hard; let him be, give him some space, that's all i'm advocating, ruco fan or not
@passingby It’s true that me and @llwy12 have a soft spot for the old time actors but we have watched countless series so can determine of scenes are acted well or not.The main thing is that we do not have the baggage of having current TVB idols that blind our opinions. However the current fans are blindly loving their idols every move, every word. Could describe it as a fantasy crush. They even willing to trash other opponents achievements.Vincent Wong is the victim this time. He’s even accused of been favourably given a ‘tailor made’ blind lawyer role.
@llwy12 Is there really tension between Ruco and Nancy? There were a lot of rumors last year after AFWFW. Nancy's group of friends even suggested for Ruco to court her. Well...that didn't go through. I never thought the two were compatible off screen.
@jadio Kent Tong won’t have any influence on TVB. Since Barbara Yung’s death Kent has been unpopular with the public so TVB would not need him at all. Though I think in TVB’s perspective, promoting a former Miss Hong Kong participant with an acting family background would generate more noise than just another average rookie. It’s the company’s decision and its a good business decision. She has been decent so far so can’t conplain.
The usual predictable answers ‘Adam Cheng and Liza Wang’ or ‘Chow Yun Fat and DoDo Cheng’ are classic onscreen couples blah blah. ‘Ruco and Nancy’ aren’t even as good enscreen couples as ‘Raymond Wong and Priscilla Wong’ for crying out loud.....
@rucofan1100 It’s not on wording and please do some research. That was the only year where the best actor award was voted by the public. People don’t need to state ‘I like him because of looks’ to show preference. It is shown by the illogical arguments displaying blind support and forum usernames with the actor’s names on. If you think they are handsome, please just say it. Please cut the crap on defending them when I’m commenting on their acting. I’m not saying your idols are terrible actors. They haven’t improved for years and they are far away from the standard of good actors like Wayne Lai nevermind the elite actors such as Tony Leung, Sean Lau, Anthony Wong etr.
@rucofan1100 i think you should read slowly and digest what llwy and jimmyszeto are trying to tell die hard fans like you and the likes of you who can swallow every crap this guy throws your way. No one is demanding that he tells everything about his personal life. We're just saying that we're disappointed with the way he handled this whole dating matter including his silly blatant lies and how he was tactless in his answers which embarrassed his once good partner (by stressing over and over and over again at different interviews how he never ever dated her, without regard for her feeling; hey man spare the overkill) and his subsequent treatment of her like an absolute stranger yet he claims that he wants to work with her again. What i found most despicable is that when he was canvassing for votes last year, he happily played along to her fans but when her usefulness was over he treated her in a cold distant manner especially now that he's linked to someone else. Be a gentleman which as I've found out he is not. I used to like him too but I refuse to he a blind fan who thinks he's perfect. His acting has also become very one-note and stale but that's probably not entirely his fault, blame it on the roles he's been given.
@jadio Nah…Kent doesn’t have that much pull with TVB anymore. If anything, it’s because TVB is severely lacking in talent right now so they are plucking the ones with potential (or who already have some amount of affinity/familiarity with audiences) from their current crop of up-and-comers and sticking them in lead roles. I actually think Roxanne is a good choice to groom as lead, as her performances so far have been pretty decent as far as newbies go (probably because acting runs in her family, since both her dad and her uncle were known actors back in the day). As for Joey Law…all I’m going to say is – Joey who?? He definitely needs to up his profile, otherwise he’s going to have a hard time (especially from the relentless HK media) given Roxanne is currently at a higher level than him….unfortunately, that’s how the industry (and the HK media) works…
@jadio does kent tong still have any pull though in 2017? nepotism or not i thought she did ok, still a work in progress but at least heading in the right direction
@elizabeth high five, for seeing past the bs and focusing on ruco THE ACTOR! think the recent negativity we've been seeing on this site towards him is either a) there are a lot of people on jaynestars that care about his love life or b) some people have never liked him to begin with and are just using the opportunity to attack him now (harder to do back then when every ruco article was about how he was the unsung hero of tvb).
@m0m0 people love an underdog. when he was underappreciated, underused people loved him cuz they were part of his narrative; ruco chan, the people's actor. now that he's famous and popular, everyone's like "he thinks he's better than us" "tell us who you're dating or else you're a snob" think wayne lai pre-rosy business and post (pre: omg he's the best actor ever, make him a lead actor!!! vs post: omg he's everywhere! why's he on every show?)
@jimmyszeto yea, public voting via tvb is the gold standard, smh. dude are you that stupid? my whole argument was that raymond's acting has declined since 2008, which coincided with his focus on his singing career, hence me lamenting what could've been had he not spread himself so thin. his acting career has clearly taken a backseat to his singing since 2008, hence the term full time. hey btw, since you're so focused on wording, didnt you accuse me of basing acting on looks? when did i say that? maybe you should stop talking out of your... (oh nvm, i noticed you were just responding to yourself, calling yourself dumb lol. dont be so hard on yourself, its ok)
@jadio I don't think she was given the lead role because of her being Kent Tong's niece. If it's because of the relationship, she could have been given lead role in lighthearted family series (such as her role in The Tofu War) when she first debuted years ago. It's more like TVB is giving her opportunities as a rising star to show her potentials in carrying lead roles by casting her in smaller production to start with. Anyway, Roxanne is definitely better in acting & has potentials to grow instead of Joey Law, who is stil stuck with small/minor roles with no improvements so far. Thus, Joey does need to work extra hard to pick up the pace to avoid a huge gap (& comparison) between him and Roxanne since they are both working in the same industry.
@elizabeth Not all the negativity is due to him dating someone. If you look back I had already said his performance in ‘fist within four walls’ was not an award winning performance. It was very average but many liked the character he portrayed. Since then his he has put zero effort into his acting and has remained the same therefore it shows his lack of passion. I’m a boy so couldnt care less if he was dating or not. However, I do find his answers in interviews as lack of respect and predictable. He thinks he is bigger than what he actually is.
@elizabeth I don’t think people’s negativity toward Ruco is due to him dating someone….rather, it’s more that people are disappointed with the way he handled the whole situation and the mess he made of things. Yes true, celebrities are “selling” a certain image and perhaps he couldn’t say anything about him dating Phoebe due to his (or his company’s) desire to continue taking advantage of the pairing with Nancy (which btw, is not under contract – TVB is not dumb enough to put that kind of stuff in the contract because they know they can get in trouble for it….it’s more of an “unwritten understanding” type deal)….but there was really no need to say what he did when his relationship with Phoebe was exposed. I’m not a fan of either artist but I can totally understand why Nancy’s fans would be pissed at him because the way he answered definitely put Nancy in a bad light – she actually responded to the whole thing with grace given the awkward position she was placed in, which gave her brownie points in my book. Anyway….is it just me or does it seem like many of the male celebrities seem to have issues dealing with this relationship stuff in the public eye? The Ruco/Nancy/Phoebe thing kind of reminds me of the Moses/Bernice/Aimee thing several years back (remember how Moses totally botched his handling of that relationship as well) – the difference being of course that Bernice’s career and reputation never recovered whereas Nancy’s grew stronger (though probably helps that she has so many friends standing behind her). The most recent example along the same lines (messy handling of their relationship being “outed”) was Fred Cheng and Stephanie Ho -- the way Fred handled things made me lose some respect for him, though I guess the excuse could be made that he’s less experienced in dealing with this kind of stuff with the media...but still….
Still liking Ruco despite TUA being a big disappointment. I don't get all this sudden negativity towards him just because he is dating someone. Celebrities sell an image and someone they have to cooperate to sell a partnership. They are under contract to do so. I don't mind Nancy and Ruco starring as couple again, just as long the story is good. No more cutsey acting.
not too long ago this site was a pro-ruco site. what happened, did i miss something? everyone hates him now, how come?
Forget about being in partnership with Nancy again Chin-pang. It will never be the same until and unless you are able to handle the awkwardness, guilt and uneasiness when you are with her. Your body language and shifty eyes say it all. Just watch the promotion videos for AFWFW and the ones for TUA and you would know what I mean. Don't embarass and put Nancy in an awkward situation again like telling the whole world - I have never dated her instead of just saying - we are just very good friends and partners. Sort yourself out first! Watch those videos again - what a stark difference in how you treat and react to her.
Can we stop using the word ‘dragon’ in movie titles?
@66ksc Not sure what you mean by ‘love and hate’ and all that rubbish. You have to learn that your thinking in chinese cannot be automatically translated into English sentences by using commas. It dosent work like that! Also if we had an article on every celebrity that has taken a break during the year we would be flooded with holiday articles. Most also keep it low profile but Ruco knows that he has to keep himself in the spotlight as much as possible. He has spent many years unknown and broke so is taking advantage of his popularity as much as possible.
@passingby How Ruco has responded about ‘there’s classic partnerships such as Adam Chen’s and Liza Wang’ as been used used by other celebrities on countless occasions when being asked this question. There’s actually no point of interviewing him because he answers everything in a default manner showing how proving how fake some celebrities can be. Also of course he dosent want the partnership to end. It brings the media attention and the extra money for attending functions.
@jimmyszeto Don’t be dumb. I said ‘voted by public’. Raymond got destroyed by Wayne Lai in the public vote in his best role so far although he has much more fans. Do you know what ‘full time’ means? How is he singing full time when he’s acting in a couple of series almost ever year.
Ruco please leave Nancy alone lol
@killer02 love you!
@passingby The society must be truly crazy to pay these celebrities such a huge salary. We should stop worshipping them and lining their pockets with millions for nothing.
@rucofan1100 She might only be lead due to her being Kent Tong's niece
Don't even trust half of what this man says. He's been proven to be a liar who lies without batting an eyelid. Look at his body language and shifty eyes when with Nancy or when talking about her and you can see that all this talk about being great partners with her is just another of his lies.
“The TVB crime drama The Unholy Alliance is Hong Kong’s biggest show of 2017“ More like Hong Kong’s biggest disappointment show of 2017 haha
Eh. The chemistry is alright. I don't want to see them together again.
damn he's 30?!?! he better pick up the pace cuz she's already at least a lead actress (tofu war) and he's still...the least interesting character from come home love
Sick and tired of hearing about this money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker on the news all the time. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@66ksc@ssk04 Sick and tired of hearing about this money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker on the news all the time. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
@mike similarly one could also ask how someone with as much talent and work experience as wong jing can continue to churn out garbage and be ok with it
@jimmyszeto ummm, raymond's been a full time singer since 愛不疚 hit number 1...in 2008. haters gonna hate; when did i say i thought raymond lam was even attractive? think you're letting your jealousy cloud you judgment, dude you gotta stop hanging out with your pal @killer02. also, wayne lai lost best actor to kevin cheng in 2011; is kevin cheng a better actor than wayne lai by your definition? smh thank you @coralie and @kirigiri for being objective and giving credit where it's due.
@jimmyszeto Pretentious. Alright, in order to make you 'understand', I rewrite my comments in simple sentence. By the time I sent my first comment on 4 Oct at 6:28am, I remember the icons for "Love" and "angry" were 120 & 15 respectively. The number of "Love" far exceeded the negative, copy and paste comments of a few 'frequent visitors' here. Ruco has aroused much attention even when he took a break. So he's not forgotten. Special visitors are so restless. Now the number of "angry" is 1500! What happens! Why terribly angry with an artiste who went for holiday after finished filming series with his blood and sweat and sleepless months? Why? I think smart readers know what's happening and therefore no response from them.
@coralie you’re probably right about that.
@bubbletea alot of ppl r'nt speaking out about this tho... :/ if the 30yr old was a guy i wonder how many ppl would be lashing out at the guy -.- the 30yr old girl is probs just using Etta since shes a celebs daughter n using her for fame https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ27keaFPFq/?taken-by=andiautumn
@killer02 XD yessss
@66ksc Wow.Your writing skills are horrific. Do you know how to construct English sentences? No one is replying because they don’t understand your posts.
The no. of 'angry' increase from 15 when I posted my comment @6:28 to 634-hardworking, hahaha!
@cutie777 if leon didn't keep up with his looks, he'd probably look a lot like her husband too. she likes older men it seems.
'120 Love' against a handful of 'frequent visitors' with copy and paste negative comments-who wins? simple math. lol. Silence doesn't mean compromise. Ruco is not forgotten, at least not for those special visitors who remain busy with his minor topics, which shows he's still so competitive.
Omg!! I’m not trying to be mean in here but I thought her new husband was her father when I first looked at the picture from above maybe it’s just me thinking of that. I don’t think it’s a good idea if Leon attends her wedding it will be a shame for sure and if she’s thinking of having a baby she better hurry up since she’s almost in her 40. She reminds me of Lillian Ho Ka Lai just by little bit.
@bubbletea a milkshake would help her gain some weight.
@mike Wong Jing has done some good movies outside his brainless comedies, mainly crime movies with frequent collaborator Billy Chung. Movies such as A True Mob Story, "My School Mate, the Barbarian", the first two "Colour" movies, "Moving Targets", "I Corrupt All Cops", and "To Live and Die in Mongkok". He can get ambitious when he wants to be. This looks like another ambitious one if you ask me so I really want to see it.
@anon @jjwong I finally wrote up a post about OCTB on my blog..feel free to discuss over there if you'd like: https://llsmusings.blogspot.com/2017/10/hk-web-series-octb.html?m=0
@passingby I agree. Anyone could have come up with some of lame jokes and especially that dumb song. Not exactly witty humour..
Wong Jing's movies keep having stars in it but very questionable scripts. I know he films very quickly so does he purposely choose poor scripts so he can film them all very quick? It seems like a waste of star power with top artists he gets all the time in his films.
Barely made it thru the first ep. The jokes were not even funny and that appearance by WCL 's character singing that mangled song was pure waste of time and irrelevant and so not funny.
so far i do enjoy the show!
lol reporters running out of thing to report. leave vincent alone please.
i cant wait to see the show! looking forward to see all these hottie haha
@anon Yup…some media outlets are calling the person who reported the series as someone with “malicious intentions”….I tend to agree in this case. The good news is that the production company reacted quickly and was able to get it all worked out almost immediately. Further news today is that OCTB already surpassed the 300 million viewership mark and it is rumored that the production team is already planning season 2 -- the script is already being written, main players will be the same but with different supporting cast…most important of all though, they are willing to throw double the amount of money into the production, with costs estimated to range between $100 to $200 million HKD (the first season took $60 million HKD to make). Justin Cheung (he plays the main villain in the series) said that season 2 plans aren’t confirmed yet, as the process is a little different with web series than traditional series – with web series, they need to look at the viewership numbers (i.e. the number of “hits” or “real-time playback”) and determine whether there will be return on investment, which plays a huge role in the amount of money investors are willing to put in….the higher the viewership, the more likely that investors are willing to front larger sum of money for them to make season 2. So basically, the more people who watch the series, the better….
@llwy12 Yup, that sounds like TVB. They always resort to underhanded tactics to overcome their competitions. Something similar happened a few years ago when HKTV posed a threat. Thanks again for keeping us updated!
I'm watching OCTB right now. I think the older cast is fantastic, especially Jordan Chan who is one of my fav cast members. The plot is also TVB-esque, but done in a much more logical fashion. There aren't any plot holes so far (but I've only gotten to episode 6.) I think that in itself is noteworthy. However, it definitely lacks the momentum that is typical of TVB series. The plot is slow and some members of the crew is really wooden in their delivery (i.e., Danny.) There's also no anchoring motive to drive the next episode. I'm torn about whether to finish it as it's gory and violent and to be honest, slightly boring. However, I want to support any independent station opposite TVB, so it's a toss up right now.
@anon @jjwong (and whoever else is watching OCTB currently) Just FYI in case you have trouble accessing OCTB on Youtube. Over the weekend, Youtube actually blocked access to the series and took it down for a period of time. When the production company inquired with YT why they did that, YT told them that someone had “reported” the series to them and so they took it down. The series has since been put back up and all access has been “unlocked” however the version they up there at the moment is some crappy low-res version rather than the original HD version that was up there before. The production company is working with YT to clarify all possible misunderstandings so this doesn’t happen again but you never know. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want but I kind of feel like TVB has something to do with this….currently the series only airs in HK via Youtube (in Mainland, it airs on Youku, since Youtube is banned in China), so it had to be someone in HK who reported it (overseas audiences are watching too but highly doubt they would care enough to report it)…unlike TVB series, which other people put on YT illegally, the production team for OCTB intentionally put the series up on their own YT channel so HK viewers could watch for free, so of course they have no reason to “report” the series either.... coincidentally, there has been a lot of coverage in the media recently about OCTB actually doing better than Line Walker 2 in terms of overall popularity and hype….so if it wasn’t the production company or anyone associated with the series, it wasn’t Mainland audiences, and most likely it wasn’t HK audiences who are currently “chasing” the series, who else does that leave? Hmmm….
What garbage news. Tracey and Ali are dating.. and Sisley are rumor to be dating.. and honestly, I personally think Yoyo look better than all 3 of them...
She looks great!
Joe really doesn't look the same anymore. She either has PS on her face or she need to gain some weight back. Way too thin now!!!
@jimmyszeto Could the same logic be used to explain why TVB is taking the money they are making (whether from HK or Mainland market) and instead of investing it back into their own series and artists, are choosing to put it into Hollywood (the announcement had already been made that they are teaming up with Imagine Entertainment to produce movies and television series exclusively for American audiences)? TVB is a Hong Kong TV station, registered to do business in HK, operates under a broadcasting license issued by the HK government, is regulated by the HK Communications Authority, and has been able to achieve the success it has the past 50 years due to the support of HK audiences. I don't know about you guys but to me, TVB owes it to HK audiences to put them first and foremost -- if not because of the reasons above, at the very least, they are operating under a license that makes them very specifically accountable to HK audiences. I don't have a problem with TVB chasing the Mainland market if they had their crap in order back home in HK and had held up their side of the bargain (meaning putting in the effort to make their productions better, invest in training for their artists, listening to HK audiences for once instead of doing their own thing with little to no regard for what their audiences think, etc.) -- but the fact of the matter is that they are expanding to overseas markets (whether Mainland or Hollywood) at the expense of the very audience (HK audience/market) that made them who they are in the first place, which to me is akin to slapping HK audiences in the face (and taking their money to invest elsewhere to boot)...THAT's the piece I have a problem with. Sure, if they want to air their series in the Mainland, go for it if that's what makes sense, but why do Mainland audiences get to "watch ahead" when the series was supposedly made for HK audiences? In the case with Legal Mavericks, that was even more ridiculous because the original arrangement was for the series to air in Mainland FIRST then in Hong Kong LATER -- it wasn't until that information was leaked out that TVB "tweaked" the arrangements so that the series would debut in both Mainland and HK at the same time (though Mainland audiences still got to watch the entire series ahead of HK audiences due to the way the episodes aired).
@coralie Yea from some of his TVB and even his HK movie roles, some of his characters were not very inspiring imo. I too also blame TVB for overworking this poor guy.
@jimmyszeto actually prior to his 'chok' phase, he had a lot of potential as an actor. That's what made him so popular in the first place and that boosted his singing career. but frankly after he became famous, his acting depreciated greatly. I blame TVB for his burn out. They gave him the worst roles with little character development for a long, long time until he left. But he was never the same since he when he started. His passion diminished
@llwy12 just having a tiny fraction of the market in China would be more lucrative than the Hong Kong market plus the HK market is already guaranteed with the monopoly. Hong Kong actors have always been extremely popular and in demand in China so its the right direction for TVB to go. In fact they should have targeted the mainland market earlier.
@rucofan1100 Firstly Raymond has never been a full time singer and he has been acting constantly before and after 2008. He never got accepted as an elite actor by the public which is why he gave up on Hong Kong. I don't base acting skills on appearance like you do. Wayne Lai is a very good actor. Thrashed Raymond in the Awards voted by the public if i remember correctly.
@kirigiri Yup...it shows that TVB cares more about the Mainland market than the HK one. Of course this isn't surprising given that TVB already announced that their focus in the coming years would be on the Mainland market and many of their series this year are collaborations with Mainland / catered to Mainland tastes....plus their primary investor is a Mainland media mogul whose interests obviously lie elsewhere (in Mainland and overseas in Hollywood).
@jimmyszeto gee you really hate everyone...but raymond lam circa 2000-2008 was a solid young actor coming into his own; always wondered how he would have developed had he not chosen singing full time
@kirigiri too bad he never dubs his own voice in the mainland dramas though, really takes away from the performance. always felt like if he hadn't dedicated his time to singing and spent more time acting---he was on track to being a great actor. i've heard he actually really wants to get into film (supposedly he signed with eeg cuz they promised him they would promote him in their films, liars!!!); always preferred raymond lam the actor as opposed to raymond lam the singer
it'd be career suicide if anyone finds out that he's having an affair with ANY TVB actress, for him & her since he has an idol-ish image right now. considering how hard most fa-dans had to work to get to their position, i don't think they would jeopardize their chances.
If I do watch it in the future, it would be mainly for Michael Miu and Mandy Wong.
@rucofan1100 He's focused on Mainland dramas. Heard he wrapped up on the Journey to the West drama as the Monkey King. But singing is his primary passion for the longest time. I don't expect him to return to HK films (he wasn't faring *too* well in the latter if I recall).
Looks like he really enjoyed his time at Dubai. Those are some pretty nice photos.
@llwy12 I figured it out a while back but I appreciate the help regardless! Not sure why TVB is making its HK viewers stay behind while people with Tencent VIP membership (and people having access to these extra episodes) have the upper hand. Wouldn't this cause HKers to watch the subsequent episodes online, thereby affecting ratings?
Having a family has finally tamed Aaron. Good for the family.
@Cassiemissy, the drama was shown in 1999/2000 so it is 17 years ago not even 13. I read there was a sequel to the Princess Pearl drama of which Zhou Xie was part of but not Zhou Wei Ruby and Alex because they were too busy. So where was the proof that Zhou Xie was discriminated and looked down? The video clearly show that they were joking about it all. Let us not forget that Ruby was still a rookie hence it was not surprising that she felt awkward. I do not think kissing was common in the late 1990 dramas? These days... kissing seems to be a must. ;-) @melia880, yes, these deep seated ideas of woman should be submissive is outdated though the acceptance of equality in any form is still not as forthcoming in some societies. And why should Ruby apologise for her comments in the show when it was done in humour according to the theme of the talk show? In fact, Ruby added that Zhou Jie was trying too hard (ie. being too realistic). It was not like Zhou Jie lost his job because of that joke? Some haters are just creating ill feelings and discord out of nothing. Try listening to JinXing, China's sharp and witty talk show host. Her words are sharp and precise (I love her show). The comedic lighted hearted talk of Kangxi talk show pales in comparison.
@killer02 hello :) make my day!
I found it boring during the first 4 ep but start getting better after 5. Wish WCL was in it more. Other than that I think I will continue watching.
@killer02 Yeah. Saying 'I don't have money to buy many things' is the typical fake talk. Seems like Ruco is a very fake person and his comments recently is just treating the reporters and public like they are dumb. The reporter is not asking if he is buying a houses or cars in Dubai. Just some brands or souvenirs which are affordable to even the average readers on this site.
@mambamentality2 @passingby I guess no matter how much fame and money he have, he will still crave for more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend the rest of his life chasing after fame and fortune.
@jimmyszeto sorry about that. we approved your comment. we are still working out some small issues with the comment spam detection. thanks for supporting our site. we try our best with our limited time and resource.
@cassiemissy Going to generalize a bit and attribute it to the patriarchal nature of Eastern world. Many women in Asian countries get torn apart for the smallest of things (e.g. being the victim of sexual assault) while men get away with committing sexual assault. Unfortunately, sexism is very deeply ingrained into Eastern culture, no matter how "progressive" some of the more "modern" Eastern countries like HK and Taiwan think they are.
If i were ruco i would start to get worried. Sure he needed a break after SW but it's about time he went back to do some serious work or else he will soon be forgotten. So far no news of any new drama that he will be filming.
@mambamentality2 don't you just love how predictable killer is?
No one is starting these rumors except the reporters themselves. Tracy and Ali both have boyfriends, and none of Tracy, Ali and Sisley seem like the kind of people to go after married men. When you're popular, you're bound to get some negative media too, I guess.
@killer02 Can always rely on you. lol
@jimmyszeto Asking Ruco if he also had the time to shop in Dubai’s luxury shopping malls, he laughed and said, “I don’t have the money to buy that many but Dubai is definitely a place worth visiting!” Really ruco do you expect us to believe that? This guy is just full of crap. Celebrities who earns multi-millions dollar every year, claiming not having enough money to purchase luxury goods is a joke. Please don’t treat your fans like fools!
@mambamentality2 Greedy chan is just a money grubbing, pathetic fame seeker. This guy is way overexposed and overrated, he should just look elsewhere to earn a living but not in entertainment industry.
killer02, where you at?
@admin How about my recent post? I spent a long time analysing my opinions of two series but it still says 'awaiting confirmation' the next day. Posted it again and the same thing. Please approve the post! Thanks
@rucofan1100 Why? His acting was going nowhere. Might as well tour around and sing to maintain his fans rather than act.
Another Ruco article. I recommend he should work on his acting instead. This article is as relevant as Cecilia Cheung doing homework with her son...
Wong Chi Lam should be in this more. His character in series 1 was so likeable. He needs to appear more and also bring back his mum and dad. Actually they should just make the sequel totally off the first series. We don't need Ada, Joyce or BabyJohn.
@llwy12 OTCB does have good direction, a good cast, provide good memories to avid triad genre lovers like myself but it is far from being a great modern series. If this was made during the 1990s then this would be the best series ever. The plots are simply too outdated and the triad 'young and dangerous' genre has been done to death. Like Young and Dangerous', the character development is next to none. At least in Line Walker 2 there are Jessica and Moses characters which are interesting. The triad dialogues written for OTCB 2017 are so predictable that it's cringeworthy. As the viewer you can anticipate and forecast the dialogue. I think the producer just sat down and thought 'let's make a young and dangerous type' series. Jordan Chan is actually very likeable as the slightly tormented undercover cop. However as we all know,he cannot pronounce sentences clearly and most of the time we cannot hear what he says. Subtitles are needed and It is very important for the main character to talk clearly. The other main actor Danny Chan is the total opposite and is a very clear speaker but his acting is totally wooden. The supporting cast and the main bad guy have been excellent though. The director has missed a step because there were plenty of potential to develop these characters. Instead the director chose to advance the plot quickly. It's a good series to watch if you are bored but if expecting a deep series that requires a bit of thinking then 'must avoid'. Overall I prefer Line Walker 2 to OTCB because it's more modern and has better character development.
That's a weak cast for the sequel. All up to Roger.
Surprisingly this series didn't turn out as bad as many of us have expected earlier due to the failure of the second installment. It also proves that WCL is someone who accept constructive criticisms positively. Unlike some in this industry who will blame audiences for not appreciating their works when they were criticised, WCL made efforts to improve and he did it successfully. Meanwhile, both the anniversary series that are currently airing have been doing well so far. Hopefully TVB will not ruin both series with poor ending and continue their efforts to produce decent (if not good) series in the future.

@anon I watch it from the site icdrama.se. They always have up to date dramas and constantly reupload older dramas (even the very old ones too). Not sure who they are. @llwy12 Thank you very much for the info. As always you're the go to person so anon was right lol.
please come back and do film!
@jjwong Sorry for the spam filters error. We approved all your comments. Hope you come back to our site in the near future.
Sighs. My comments keep getting awaiting mod... yet someone with copy and paste messages able to post over and over and over and tag a whole load of people... So JS, I'm giving up on you. Peace out! @llwy12 see you on AF. Whoever else can find me under same screenname there. OCTB FTW!!!
@anon You’re welcome! And totally agree! I’ve actually been reading up on some stuff about OCTB and I’m quite impressed with the quality of the production and the backstory of how things came about. Of course the series is not perfect by any means (despite the astronomical amount of money spent on the production) and I’m sure not everyone is going to like the series, but even with its flaws, OCTB is still a far more superior production than LW2 (ok, probably far more superior than most of TVB’s series from the past few years). I too hope they (meaning the production team behind OCTB) keep the momentum going and continue to produce quality series for HK audiences, especially since ViuTV and Fantastic Television definitely aren’t cutting it (though I will say that ViuTV is getting a little better now that they’ve switched their strategy to filming more TV series than variety shows – their currently airing series, I think English name is “Next Exit”, is quite inventive and has been getting pretty good feedback from audiences…but the station still has a ways to go to make any type of name for themselves in HK, especially since their series so far have been largely “niche-based” and not really for general audiences). Oh and there's also Fox Asia's series to look forward to as well....
@jimmyszeto "Just opened up the theme song of OCTB 2017 and the cast looks amazing. It’s a combination of experience and talent without dependency on idols. There’s certainly no ‘Pakho Chau’ type of actor in there." True, no Pakho type of character, but there IS a comparison being drawn by the media, since Pakho's former colleague Justin Cheung (both were under same management company prior to Pakho switching to TVB), who plays the crazy baddie character in OCTB, is kicking arse with his impressive performance in the series, getting lots of praise from audiences (versus the criticism that Pakho has been getting for his lackluster and wooden performance in LW2). A little ironic to be honest...
@jimmyszeto @jjwong Looks like the media is catching on to the fact that LW2 is a carbon copy of Infernal Affairs II, as I’ve already read several articles today that talk about this, with one article doing a side by side comparison of the characters, their backgrounds, mannerisms, actions, dialogue, various plot points, etc. and how similar they are. How “un-creative” of TVB to blatantly copy Infernal Affairs so closely (though of course not surprised given this isn’t the first time that they’ve done this kind of stuff)…and as usual, TVB is denying that there are any similarities whatsoever (even though the similarities are so glaringly obvious). And yes, the die-hard, delusional TVB sheep fans are still trying to defend TVB, which is ironic, since it's quite obvious TVB still thinks their audiences are idiotic fools who will just blindly lap up whatever they churn out, no questions asked. Talk about being brainwashed....
@mangotango you misunderstood. The phrase '22 year veteran' means WLH has been in the Ebiz for 22 years which makes him a veteran. It never said 'the 22 year old veteran', that is a big difference.
@llwy12 That's great news! Thanks for the update llwy12, I wouldn't have checked this thread if you hadn't tagged me. I am glad that they've achieved the success that they've had so far. OCTB is a more superior series than LW, IMHO. I hope their success continues and that they will produce more quality HK dramas in the future. I am dying for someone to take on TVB head-on. Unfortunately, ViuTV and Fantastic TV aren't there yet.
@jjwong @anon @elizabeth (sorry if I missed including anyone else...too many people commented about watching this series, hard to keep track, plus the more people I put, the likelier my comment will get put in the awaiting moderation queue)... The LATEST UPDATE from today (literally hot off the press) is that OCTB’s internet 'ratings' have officially exceeded LW2’s! OCTB’s internet hits (I think the official term for it is 'real-time playback') was at 179 million as of last night while Line Walker 2 was at 176 million – as of today, OCTB has broken the 200 million mark, thus placing them in the number 2 spot as the most watched series in Mainland China currently with Line Walker 2 having to settle for third place (1st place is a 100% Mainland series that also has similar cop - triad theme).
@jjwong Ok, here’s the more clear-headed answer, lol. Mainland audiences are actually able to watch OCTB via Youku and LW2 via Tencent. When the media judges a series’ popularity nowadays, they are mostly taking Mainland audiences into consideration (makes sense, since HK is small potatoes in terms of population comparison) and also comparing against broadcasts on internet platforms rather than traditional TV (also makes sense given most people don’t watch traditional TV anymore).
@jjwong My comments are awaiting moderation again...argh...
Wait, Edison married? Maybe the guys on this site can advise if fatherhood really changes men.
Cant wait to watch and will skip all of Grace scenes for sure!!!
@iciel it's quite difficult to not be better than the 2nd one. the 2nd installment was downright dumb.
Agreed, this series is enjoyable, thus far...
@jimmyszeto Cecilia was famous before Nic. After Nic & Edison, she was infamous. she's like the Angelina Jolie to Brad Pitt. Ironically, that one also didn't last. but personally i didn't think she was worth the hype, either acting-wise or looks-wise. but she's a completely devoted mother figure now. she's more of a lifestyle celebrity than an actual actress these days.
@llwy12 I got you what you meant now. No worries. All are good. Makes sense. I can see why people compare the two. On the surface, they're similar. Both about triads and police trying to to take them down. Further look, they have different direction and take. LW2 is all about UCs operating behind the scenes. OCTB is actual cops vs triads face to face. I rather watch the latter than a remake and recycled from 2-3 years ago.
It is a curse to be a celeb's daughter. I feel sorry for Etta. Leave her to live her life she wants.
22 year old? Not. But LeeHom does look very young for his age.
Ron comes back to tvb?? Oh nooooooooo....
It's so obvious that the dude Zhou Jie is trying to make netizens remember him. I think every sane person thinks the same.. why bring this topic up after 13 years? Is he so petty that he kept that little comment from a then young actress till today? From the video, Ruby did not seems intentionally complain that he stuck his tongue out but was just responding to a question by the host? If it was not a news back then why is it a news now? Congratulation Zhou Jie for showing the world your petty side and successfully making headlines everywhere. And funny enough.. many netizens seems to side with that dude causing Ruby to suddenly gain a bunch of haters. And what's wrong with pointing at paparazzi to stop them from intruding their privacy.
There are some details being left out. She closed her comments page on weibo and her lawyer issued a letter to a blogger who tried to stir political trouble by bringing in cross strait ties between Taiwan and China and accused Ruby of sucking up to Japan. They also accused the couple of not donating at a recent Charity Ball they attended (although no one really know because both are known to be low key in charity works). They accused them of looking down at mainlanders. They were even told to go back to Taiwan. It was very distasteful, ugly and uncalled for. If such misleading accusations and insults were made in the western society, many would have got into defamation trouble. Ruby did not accuse Zhou Jie of sticking out his tongue. She was being queried about kissing at the show and she was just commenting on it. There was no malice. Some China netizens said that Zhou Jie did not become famous because of her comments and demanded apology and compensation. (roll eyes)
I want to see pretty baby.
No matter what is written or said about WLH, the man can really sing. His acting is not bad either, it is acceptable. Too often these celebs try to combine the two and they are really bad at singing or acting. Some are horrible at both, yet those idols are the most supported and overated. Lee Hom reminds me of Leslie Cheung in that he can sing and act at the same time. WLH reminds me of Leslie in other ways too
@kirigiri Sorry, a little late, but my understanding is that the first week Tencent will upload the first 10 episodes, then each week thereafter they will upload 5 episodes at a time. TVB, on the other hand, will continue to air only 1 episode per day so HK viewers will be way behind in watching....
@jjwong Not sure about how OCTB is airing in China but in HK, it's airing only on Youtube from what I can tell. But it premiered around the same time as LW2 and even though LW2 is currently airing on TVB's regular Jade channel, it's also on myTV Super, which is what TVB is counting more than traditional TV, since myTV Super is paid subscription and their regular Jade Channel is not. Plus TVB is not blind to the fact that most HK audiences nowadays watch programs on the their mobile phones and tablets and on the internet more than they sit in front of the TV...also there's the Mainland audiences who watch primarily through internet as well -- so when the media says that the 2 series are going head to head, they are mostly referring to the "web" part, not traditional TV...perhaps "timeslot" wasn't the most appropriate word, lol...it's more like both series are HK series being aired around the same time and with similar genre / theme (UC, triad / gangster theme, etc.), which puts them in direct competition with each other despite the technically different platforms (hope I'm making sense....sorry for the long-winded explanation, lol...it's late and my brain is kind of fried from overuse today, hahaha)
@elizabeth I actually don't think it was for providing the people (artists), as there were very few (more like barely any) TVB-contracted artists in the series (and even so they should be "thanking" TVB not Shaw Brothers). That section is for the companies that either lent the production team a location for filming or sponsored artists' outfits or food or music -- things of that nature. Most likely Shaw Brothers lent them their old studios (which Shaw Brothers still owns) for filming certain scenes and so Shaw Bros gets a "special thanks" mention in the end credits...that definitely doesn't equate to Shaw Brothers (or TVB for that matter) being involved with the production....
@llwy12 I saw Shaw Brother Pty Ltd in the end credits when Andy Lau was singing. I think they just provided the people as it just read Thanks to : ..... Brothers Pty Ltd is another thing.
@jjwong thx! Will check it out.
@passingby Youtube. Title OCTB. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNORTw_uosRNGgdEjwdHvuw @llwy12 and other who's watching OCTB, the flaws come out glaringly started eps 7 when they introduced the Big Boss George. I wonder if that's really THE boss or just another facade pawn. I reall yhope it's the latter. The assistant could've been someone with more oophm too. At least they have a good voice to do her English dub voice over, lol. Also, their make-up department needs to be a little better. Scenes with blood are really fake xD I do like the "swan song" at the end of each eps from the characters. It's like their last words of the wise.
@janet72 lol. Tot u binge watched all 10 eps already? Ive just finished ep 2. Not comfortable with the amt of bloodshed I'm seeing. It seems to be just bang bang bang kill kill kill.
@jjwong where can i watch this and who are the cast?
turbo is hinting to her boyfriend to get married. i was enjoying those quiet months without her jabbering.
Moses has a gun. He passed his gun to Michael Miu the bodyguard who doesn't have a gun.
@llwy12 the producer of the prelude (aka LW2) should have been produced by Jazz since he did a pretty ok job with the original one (although there were too many deaths). Moses and Jessica screwed up this drama. Even with Benz and Michael Miu, LW2 is pretty rubbish.
I am enjoying this series too and had a good laugh at the RIP scenes and the curry fish balls scenes. However I feel Mag Lam's character is not logically written. Because she was supposed to be legendary top student with degree and all and she is a tutor? She should be doing masters or doctorate with scholarship to teach in universities. Makes no sense. And Bob's character is funny but in many ways the way he is depicted is offensive and I feel for a comedy about social issues, this series is a tad backward. On the education front the Singaporean movie called I Not Stupid did it much much better, about same issues. However credit to WCL for making something I look forward to each night. And yes I do enjoy Babjohn's character who is not a bad guy, just dumb which is quite funny. If WCL had time he should have done that role.
@iciel Agreed. I like them all though. WCL is a genius. He might be short in height, but big in talent. He has a wonderful, positive heart that is willing to give up and coming actors a start. What is amazing is he looks talent and gives talent a chance to grow and improve. Right guys?
@sherla1019 This woman should be in jail. If Etta was not Jerky Chan's daughter, andiautumn would not be with her. Andi strikes me as a social climber who is using Etta for fame, not fortune. She just wants to get her foot in the big door and Etta is rhe means to an end. You see, none of the famous lesbian HK celebs would never give her a second glance so Etta is being used for 15 minutes of fame. The mefia should ignote this woman. They also need to leave Etta alone.
@anon There are ads played throughout an eps on YT. Also, I haven't really looked but there might be product placements in the series. It might not pull in as much as traditional ads, no immediate ROI, but in the long run, it'll probably benefit the production company if/when the series becomes a hit. On top of that, I like to think these vet actors agree mostly to entertain, for the audience sake and for better good of HK entertainment industry *pumps fist*
@llwy12 Hrm, I only get 3rd party websites like JS, AF, so forth, and not actual news media or artists social media accounts. So no wonder I haven't heard much about OCTB. Glad I ran across and gave it a go! How are the two series playing at the same time slot? OCTB is air in the regular convention TV medium too? I thought it's only YT.
I like the series so far. Not as impressive as the 1st one yet but definitely better than the 2nd one. All of the characters are really likable.
@anon Good question! I’m actually not 100% sure how it works but I did read somewhere that advertisers who usually put their money towards traditional television have started warming to the idea of web series in recent years, as they are starting to recognize the huge influence that the internet and social media platforms have on the general viewing public…..plus, advertising for traditional television had already been on a decline for many years anyway, so some advertisers are happy to switch to a platform that will give them better returns. There’s definitely a market for web series out there, which is why so many media companies are either switching to this platform or integrating it into the services they offer. In the case of OCTB, I’m not too familiar with any of the Mainland production companies involved with the series, so I’m not sure where they are getting their money from and how they are turning over a profit. I would have to assume that they are indeed teaming up with one of the media platforms in the Mainland to air the series over there, since Youtube is banned in China and a lot of the “hits” they are referring to include Mainland audiences. When I have time, I’ll do a little research and see if I can find out anything….
@llwy12 Thanks for the insightful post! I am up to episode 8 now. I hope this production company will produce more HK dramas in the future. They definitely have the right formula going. Question though, how do they make money online as a web series? I've been watching it on Youtube. I highly doubt they can recoup their cost from YT views, nevermind making a profit from this. They must be broadcasting this on other online platforms as well.
@happybi The characters she plays are always seductive and leave very little to imagination so she needs to stay in slim shape. If she plays other characters, she would have more clothes to cover up any excess.
@funnlim yup. they rather skinny and boobless than fat with a bit of boobs
is this legal in HK??? her GF is 30 and she 17 If they were in US her 30yr old GF will get arrested and locked up for having intimate contact with a minor and they will carry a name tag Phedophile sex offender for life
@jjwong There are articles out there and plenty of exposure, just none on this forum. Most of the info I posted about the series in the other thread were gleaned from news articles, magazines, artists' Weibo and other social media, etc (after being put through my "common sense" filters of course, lol), also from the series itself of course. It IS a bummer though that JS doesn't have anything on this series so the comments have to be on a technically unrelated article (though I wouldn't say this is completely off topic, since OCTB is being constantly compared to LW2 in the media at the moment, mainly because they are going up against each other in same time slot, especially in Mainland China).
@jjwong I think Cecilia was one of the rare few who found acting natural as soon as she made her debut. However, her reputation went pretty much downhill after the Edison scandal, divorce and movie flops. As far as movie goes, she is pretty much unemployable. If she wasn't occupied then I think she can still make money in China. If Nicolas Tse was such a big name I doubt there will be any reports on her to be honest.
@aiya Being the child of a celebrity brings a lot of coverage. Especially superstars...
For crying out loud, must this reality drama continue? She is not even a celebrity.
so THIS is why Etta was always so gloomy and sullen. she wanted to come out and Elaine probably forbid it. ahh, explains everything. also, andi autumn looks amazing in photos...but very haggard and bummy in these pap snaps. goes to show, what ppl display on YT/ISG/FB isn't always the truth.
@elizabeth Agree it's a very decent series thus far. I only finished eps 2. Very nostalgic. Love seeing old, I mean old actors. There are fresh ones too, fewer but good mixture. They are no "TVB actors" in this series however:; unless they popped in at later eps after 2. Some of these filmed for TVB before and even had a TVB contract but none belongs to TVB currently. Pretty certain TVB has nothing to do with the series. Like you, hopefully there'll be some article or exposure for this series. It's strange to discuss about it on a none related article lol. Oh well.
The paps need to leave Etta alone. She is not a public figure and never asked to be in the limelight.
@elizabeth I actually commented on the other thread already about this series. Curious though, where did you see that Shaw Brothers is involved? So far, everything I've read shows that this has nothing to do with Shaw Brothers and TVB. Also, looking at the opening credits where it lists out all the production companies involved with this series, Shaw Brothers is not mentioned anywhere....did you see the word "Brothers" in there and assume it was Shaw Brothers? That company is actually not Shaw Brothers -- it's a production company that I think is called Brothers Production or something like that which the series' lead Danny Chan Kwok Kwan (who also serves as one of the producers for the series) opened in partnership with another fellow actor...
@llwy12 Check your AF :)
So this is BS because my posts are waiting for moderation now... @jayne do something please. A lot of recent posts are hung up the black hole. Very annoying...
@jjwong @anon @kaykay408 @jimmyszeto Trying my comment again (got to break it up into parts because I have no idea what is causing it to get banned so if the below sounds choppy, I apologize)... OCTB is actually a web series that is the result of a collaborative effort between 2 little known Mainland production companies. The producer is HK actor/dancer Danny Chan Kwok Kwan (his wife is singer Emme Wong), who also stars in the series (for those who may not be familiar with him, he’s primarily a movie actor and is nicknamed Little Dragon because of how closely he resembles Bruce Lee). The reason why Jordan Chan is in this is because he is buddies with Danny, so he agreed to co-star together with him. Danny’s wife Emme Wong is also in the series. They invited boatloads of HK veterans to participate in this, both from the movie and television worlds but not only that, they actually put a lot into the script as well as the production itself – the production costs top 60 million HKD, which is A LOT of money for a 40 episode web series. Also, the series was actually shot last year but they only started airing it this week (probably to go up against TVB’s much-hyped Line Walker 2 premiere). And yes, if there seems to be a Young and Dangerous - gangster - old HK vibe to the series, it makes sense because so many of the veteran actors they invited were famous for their roles in Y&D and all those other triad - gangster-themed series….also the setting for the series is 1980s HK…even the theme song is an old classic, the theme song from HK’s very first cop series produced back in 1977, which was originally sung by Michael Kwan (Benji Chiang, who also stars in OCTB, was given the honor of re-making the song for the series and also serve as producer for the rest of the music in the series). The other interesting fact is that this series is indeed giving Line Walker 2 a run for its money. As of yesterday, the number of hits for LW2 over a 5 day period is close to 200 million however for OCTB, it has already surpassed the 100 million mark in less than 3 days of broadcast. Personally, I prefer OCTB over LW2, not just because of the cast but also the quality of the production overall, which pretty much leaves LW2 and TVB in the dust…. Also, my understanding is that this series has nothing to do with TVB, though I think someone mentioned that Shaw Bros is partly involved hence why there are some TVB actors in this (though very few TVB people from what I can see – if they were truly involved, the series would be filled with majority TVB people). I have not seen anything specifically saying Shaw Bros is involved so I am going to stick with this having nothing to do with TVB unless there is proof to show otherwise…
@jjwong My comment is awaiting moderation apparently...not sure why..
@kuks IMO is that anyone who shares anything on social media does it for the camera and attention. @jimmyszeto Yea, I'm not sure who she got popular back in the days. I didn't think her acting was good nor was her looks. Eh.
@llwy12 IDK why your comment about OCTB isn't showing up here but it shows on "recent comments" page. Anyways, I caved and watched OCTB. Holy moly, I'm glad I did! Besides obvious quality of heavy-contending stars; the feels, the production, and the filming are great. The POV are refreshing yet nostalgic at the same time. Yes, it’s very Y&D feel, which that in itself is new. I like how it’s taken from the “black side” side and unlike these UC series from TVB where has no focus angle. They put in some effort in the dialogues, used a lot of slangs. It’s pretty cool. Even the cops' "moral speeches" aren't overly cheesy and cringy. I’m definitely chasing this one :)
@bubbletea totally agree with you. That gf is much older. Sure sound like she may be taking advantage of Etta situation. Good luck to her for sure. Hopefully as she age. She will grow.up.
Yes, Andiautumn is two months away ftom turning 30.
If that woman is really 30, this relationship is so wrong on so many levels. Etta is a young woman but she is still a young impressionable teen who is going through a lot of emotional and psychological problems. What she needs now is level headed friends who are her own age. Not some auntie craddle robber. I do not see this woman being a good influence on Etta. Makes me wonder if Etta turned to her for guidance due to the lack of a positive relationship with Elaine, and this blonde took advantage of the situation and played with Etta's emotions and then played with her body. I cringe thinking about a 30 year old woman setting up house with a mentally and emotionally fragile 17 year old teen girl, or any girl at all. People get intimate with whom ever they want to but in this case this is so wrong, so very wrong.
@jimmyszeto @jjwong sharing mundane crap to try and stay relevant... What are the chances she does these only for the camera. Not sure I want to see her take a dump
E@m0m0 where?. Oh where is the bulk??. I certainly don't see it anywhere. I agree with @kirigirl. He should bulk up and then use muscle tone training to define his muscles. Losing all that weight and then showing his anorexic, skeletal body is quite scary. I am going to have nightmares after seeing what I saw. Yes, his waiste now matches Karena's. Eeeeek!!, the thought of that is troubling. Noticed he named his tour 'heart attack ' . If he continues with this unhealthy way of getting in shape, he will end up with a heart attack, for real.
he needed to bulk up not get down to bone skinny but the pic above he looks pretty bulky. could be the picture, in another article he just looked skinny.
I am sure he enjoyed the stunt, but goodness he looks skinnier than necessary. He could benefit from muscle building as opposed to overdoing weight loss with his rice and sweet potato, boiled chicken or steamed veggies diet. :s
@jimmyszeto The plot thickens from there. Be patient!
Old man Raymond now has the matching waist size to Karena now. Well done!
@jimmyszeto, @elizabeth Hi, thanks for the info. I know it's not a TVB series because u don't get the 'TVB feel' in it. But just wanted to know whether it's a recently produced series or a series produced a couple of years ago.
@lyu310 of cos everyone ages lol. She looked like she did some ps to try to reverse the ageing process cos she looks kinda different now, not the "growing older" type of different . I hvnt seen her IG pics but they cld hv been photoshopped, no one will put up unflattering pics of themselves on social media.
So the young actor who plays master shih is Babyjohn? I would have thought WCL missed a great chance to play that role but I understand he's busy. His Choi Sum is so funny. But I gotta admit I laughed at the RIP scene and also on his dad-day and ma-may English/Cantonese combo. Very funny. I think he's doing fine. Mag (or is it Meg?) is also doing well. But I feel her character is illogical.she's supposed to be best student and has degree etc why not show her become university lecturer ? Surely with such academic excellence she doesn't need some diploma in education and then teach secondary school? Feels like going backwards.
@passingby Now now, that's definitely an unflattering photo of her (she has pics in IG and she looks fine). That's the thing with aging - beautiful people can't escape it either (aside from some lucky ducks). Plus, Sonija is mixed race - I wonder if her Caucasian side means she'll age faster (don't want to offend anyone but that is a fact).
@diana80 Hey! It is produced a cooperation of several film companies, including Shaw Brothers, so you can see some TVB actors in it. But the direction and script is independent from TVB which makes it stand out.
@jjwong some jealousy is healthy because it shows that you care and are concerned over your partner. after all, if someone never cared about whether their partner will get stolen, I'm not sure how much love there is. not to say that it's impossible to never be jealous, but I've never seen it irl. grace is a celebrity, hanging out with the opposite gender and filming with them constantly. if I were her beau, I think I would be worried and jealous too. not jealous that she has an active social life, but jealous that she's hanging out with other guys not me. likewise, if my bf goes and hang out with numerous women on the daily, I would be wary and insanely insecure, esp if we're in a ldr
@alicesky He won't be able to beat it too. At Aaron's age it only takes a year of two.
@jimmyszeto hahahhahahah what about Aaron Kwok? Ur funny :)
@jjwong Fell asleep reading the article. Not really interested in a past unpopular actress with a bad reputation and her daily life.
@passingby No one can beat ageing. Not even Andy Lau.
@diana80 it's new and I don't think TVB has anything to do with.
Well done to Babyjohn for replacing Wong Cho Lam as the most annoying character on our screens! It's a difficulty void to fill...
@ivan, @lileric, @elizabeth I've watched the first episode of OCTB...impressive so far. But is this a new series or a warehoused series that is just released recently?
Gosh she's hardly recognisable. Did she do something to her face?
Next there'll be an article when she takes them to the bathroom for a dump xD
The left picture is actually very cute and whimsical. AAAWW!
@jimmyszeto I was in long distance relationship. I was sad and depress that I wasn't there to go out, social with friends, plaster all over social media and be there with them. I wasn't "jealous," like wishing they not having a social life, being with friends and having a good time. And that's the connotation for "jealous." Again, it's a moot point now they're married and staying close. Thought I saw something about he moving to HK for her?
@llwy12 Oh yes, their stories were funny. I like how Jessica Hsuan rolled up her shirt and showed off her full belly. Lol! Also Bobby's jab (friendly of course) at Michael about being smarter and not get caught goofing off on the back of the line during a scene. Glad Gary Tang did something different and was successful about it. Taking risks pay off. TVB-now needs to learn from that. Though I can't remember any series that take all non-1st-line leads, but does the series about the FOUR with Raymond, Kenneth, Ron and Samuel? They were all 1st-line leads around that time I thin... Also, Nat said something similiar. Then, everyone in the industry was humble, hack hack hay hay, and he was like, let me be a smart aleck, smartarse and arrogant. It paid off!
@dalebaines My bad, the article was almost a bit misleading I thought Ruby made a random post on her account about super old stuff, turns out Er kang brought up her super old post. I would shove people away too if they try to bother my life (those reporters). But I find it a little funny that Wallace picture is also up there though.
@jimmyszeto that piece of salmon was a fright to see. Should not have brought up that 'lavish' meal, my bad.
I'm pretty sure Vincent will get robbed of the award again this year. Although I enjoyed A Fist Within Four Walls last year, I didn't necessarily think that it was Ruco's best performance. Vincent on the other hand was amazing in Run Over Run. If not Best Actor, he should have at least won over Ben for My Favorite Male Character. There are still many more dramas that aren't done airing/have yet to air but I do think that Vincent's performance in Legal Mavericks has been the strongest so far. If it somehow ends up going to Natalis Chan for Bet Hur, I will definitely quit watching TVB forever. On note of Legal Mavericks, Law Lok Lam also did an amazing job in his role. I'd have no complaints if Best Supporting went to him!
@funnlim apparently, the stage name babyjohn is taken from the bible because he's quite religious? i remember seeing a interview about it a while back
@lileric I actually quite enjoy Babyjohn's acting and he's a big reason why I'm watching this drama (Ada and Louis are the main reason) as I didn't bother with the first two. I'm not impressed with Babyjohn's character yet but thought he did rather well in the movies Shockwave and Imprisoned: Survival Guide for Rich and Prodigal.
@jjwong Jealousy is not healthy for a relationship but we must read the situation. They were having a long distance relationship so if there wasn't some jealousy it wouldn't be normal. I think we would be the same if we were in his shoes.
@linvin8 Caring and jealous are two different things. Jealousy is evil and has negative mindset. Reasoning it because he "cared too much" is the same as "blame the victim." Using an excuse to cover up the bad. Like saying, oh he beats her because he loves her too much and doesn't want to lose her. The way she described, it's jealousy. He envied her social life without him and wanted what she had. That's jealousy. If it's caring, he would had been more worry about her weight, ask about her stress, encourage her she'll do fine, etc. All these are bygones anyways, since they're married now. Hope he changed to caring like you said. Else she'll end up quitting or they getting a divorce. Anyways, 127 lbs for 5'6" is about right weight! HK entertainment is savage if that's fat O_O I remembered hating her voice and what appeared to be fake personality bc of her limited Canto vocabulary, lol. She's doing better though. Good on her!
@dalebaines I agree with all of your comments. Not to mention that just because she didn't say anything before doesn't mean he's not wrong. As a new actress, it can be intimidating to point fingers at people for fear of losing your job. Many people in general are too scared, uncomfortable or shocked to react to sexual assault, but people are very good at blaming the victim for not speaking up rather than the perpetrator for doing something wrong in the first place. Taylor Swift's recent sexual assault case highlighted that so perfectly.
@melody Thanks for sharing! Although I must say the video almost made me even more confused haha... it doesn't seem like she's accusing him of anything. She said that he was the only costar who tried to kiss her with his tongue, but she didn't seem like she was trying to publicly shame him, and actually defended him after saying that he was just very into his acting. So... why are people mad at her?! I will add though, that just because she was gracious about it, doesn't make it OK for him to do it.
@anon LOL…how do you know I would know? :-) @kaykay408 @anon Ok, first, OCTB is NOT a TVB-produced series so let’s get that out of the way first. In fact, the series has absolutely nothing to do with TVB whatsoever (wanted to make that clear for obvious reasons, lol). OCTB is actually a web-series that is the result of a collaborative effort between 2 little known Mainland production companies. The producer is HK actor/dancer Danny Chan Kwok Kwan (his wife is singer Emme Wong), who also stars in the series (for those who may not be familiar with him, he’s primarily a movie actor and is nicknamed “Little Dragon” because of how closely he resembles Bruce Lee). @anon I was impressed with the acting and directing in OTCB 2017 but not with the storyline of episode 1. It was the typical 'young and dangerous' type of storyline. Very past it's sell by date but I'll continue to watch since it looks like there's a lot more to come.I'm sure a lot of money is involved with the calibre of actors and guest stars in this series.
@kaykay408 I'd like to know as well. Maybe @llwy12 might know.
@happybi I agree. The issue to me is that he didn't ask her for permission. If they talked about the scene beforehand and he warned her he will be going all out, and she agreed, then that's a different story and she would be in the wrong for accusing him falsely. But if he just did it without any warning or permission, which seems to be what happened, then he is definitely in the wrong and people should not defend him.
@funnlim Wait, why shouldn't she say anything if her costar is taking advantage of her? There are male actors, Chinese and American, who do take advantage of their female costars by doing things like french kissing without first warning them or even groping them excessively. Just because you're an actress doesn't mean you have no rights to say something about it. People think it's all fine and well since it's someone like Zhou Jie, but what if it's some disgusting old fat male actor who is using the opportunity of acting to take advantage of female costars. And I am not saying all old fat male actors have the potential to do that, but imagine an actor you find gross doing that to a younger actress. I don't think anyone would come to his defense, just like people shouldn't defend Zhou Jie if Ruby Lin's allegations are true ( and I remember reading somewhere Alex Su confirmed them to be true but since I don't remember the source anymore, I won't use that as concrete evidence).
@anon It does feel like I was watching an old HK movie! It's amazing! What company is it? Is it a onetime thing?
@funnlim Choi Sum is WCL's character from the first installment. Despite him taking center stage in the poster, WCL only has a cameo role in this installment...supposedly his character will be coming and going throughout the series. Yea, Ada and Roger do look old and tired...many of the veterans have looked that way in other series too but they seem to look fine in other programs and at events. Part of me feels like it's TVB makeup department not quite catching up to the HD that all their series are aired in nowadays. The second installment was god-awful for the most part and honestly not sure how this one is going to fare. At this point, the only part I'm interested in watching will be the segment where Ram Tseung, Rita Carpio, and Joe Tay perform a song together, though no clue which episode that will be in. Other than that, I feel like this series will be a waste of time to watch...
@jimmyszeto true..the thing though is even if they are establish actress, they are still called gold digger if they date someone who is very old or wealthy. but if they date someone who is normal then that person is not good enough for them. Just don't get a break.
@hannah Maybe he just cares a lot and that's why he was jealous. They've lasted more than a decade and he wouldn't have married her if he had a problem with her being an actress, which has been Grace's career for a pretty long time.
@jjwong Yea, absolutely. Watching all these interviews brought back so many memories for me! Like when Bobby would talk about his days in TVB back in the 80s when their studios were still located on Broadcast Drive, he often would sleep in the bathroom so that he wouldn’t have to go all the way back home and come all the way back to film. Oh and all those clips where Bobby and Michael were playing kelefes next to the likes of Tony Leung, Chow Yun Fat, etc. Their analysis of those clips from the Genghis Khan series was funny too – I remember that series actually and how big of a deal it was back then…those were the days when TVB actually did on location filming for majority of their series, which made their series more authentic of course. Their memories of FOJ were great too! I think it’s pretty obvious that Gary Tang was a smart producer – it was interesting to know how he deliberately cast all second line actors in FOJ and refused to cast a single first line artist because he didn’t want the focus to be on one person. The strategy proved successful, as look at how great FOJ turned out! Notice that since Gary Tang left TVB, no other producer after him has done what he’s done or have even attempted to “stray” from the traditional formula like he did. Bobby was so funny when he talked about having to “ad-lib” closing statements for FOJ III and how he “tricked” Gary Tang into letting him have a little stand to put the files on (when in reality he was trying to not have to memorize the script and just read from it, lol). And how Michael had it “easiest” because he wasn’t a lawyer in the series like everyone else so he would come to work in slippers and stuff – hilarious! Oh and when they started talking about their female co-stars, I busted up laughing – especially when Michael started revealing all of Bobby’s “secrets” and calling saying how he looked like a piece of sushi when he filmed those bed scenes with Amy Chan, lol. The sunglasses story was also hilarious – how Bobby tripped and no one noticed, but then Michael laughed so loudly that everyone looked over and Bobby was like you bastard, lol….and then Bobby getting his "revenge" when he saw Michael trying to change his pants during a location shoot and made fun of his underwear, lol....I was laughing so hard I had to pause the clip to compose myself, haha…
Well she has a certain standard of living to maintain so why are we surprised?
She is very very skinny now. Too skinny. 126 is in fact still skinny. Is HK's ideal weight for women is below 100?
@llwy12 I watched eps 3. I enjoyed it too! So true that William still is very much the same. I never knew he's a good friend with Michael and Bobby. He was never on my radar honestly. I never thought much of him. Ironic how he mentioned Faye Wong reacted with pulling her hand back and was shocked, when he didn't tell her in advance that he simply holds her hand in a scene. Then there's another article on JS blaming Ruby to "overact" with a tongue in her mouth, lol. Times changed. I'm glad Michael explained how he got "see lai sat sau." I scratched my head when I first heard that. I was so little then, and I'm like he's not even that good looking. I wondered how he got in the "idol groupie." Then I see his young, young, young clips from the interview. I'm like, eh, I see it now lol. It's cute how he's really touched that Wayne still kept the tie. Bobby is definitely a happy fruit! He's like the male version of Lydia Shum. As Eric said about Lydia when she laughs, everyone else automatically laughs. She bought that happiness air to the room. Bobby has that affect. It's interesting that all of them thanked the previous generation and are grateful to be schooled, in positive friendly way and negative scolding, by the older generation. They remembered where the came from and who touched them. They remained humble and counted their blessings. Can't wait to see who's on next eps :)
@jimmyszeto Agreed! The cast, the plot and the acting are amazing so far. Whomever that wrote and produced this drama must continue to create more quality series. TVB will go down in history if they keep this up. I haven't been so optimistic and ecstatic about an HK drama in years. I am on Ep. 6 of 30 episodes so far. I will go far as saying that this is the best HK-produced drama in recent years (including all of the HK television networks), even the 2nd and 3rd line actors are amazing.
@kidd thx for the clarification. The rest were totally gross.
@passingby Pic 4 is from a scene in 2003’s The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, where Yang Xiao force kiss Ji Xiao Fu. So, the actress gave the correct reaction.
Babyjohn has been around for a couple of movies, nothing special about his acting. Ada has aged, weight loss and her voice is a bit raspy/tired. I can tell she is really trying to hit that comedic timing. I thought it was ok, I guess better than part 2, we'll wait and see.
Let me savour the name BABYJOHN for a moment... Angelababy has a twin now. What a name. Saw Ep 1 and sorta enjoyed it. Is Wong Cho Lam playing the same role as in part 2? Is Choi Sum the same name? However Ada Choi has aged a lot. A bit shocked to see her so thin and tired. Roger doesn't fare much better. Time has passed.
@elizabeth Is it a modern thing? Need to refer to kama sutra!
It was an honest comment made 13 years ago and he sees fit to answer that NOW? Clearly someone is in need of some publicity. Moreover maybe she has said no tongue and he did it anyway. It is acting but there is always a respectful line. However 13 years ago Ruby said things before thinking and there was a time people accused her of belittling mainlanders. She has learned much after that. Anyway being an actor, you don't kiss and tell. Ruby was wrong 13 years ago, Zhou Jie is desperate 13 years later. Faultless is Wallace trying to protect his family. Paps shoving cameras at their faces and he stopping them without resorting to violence is not disrespectful. Mainlanders are insane.
@davy she made that comment 13 years ago. He is the one who is bringing it up now as well as trying to slam her for putting down mainlander. He is a major loser!
Thats no good. She shouldnt have started that conversation in the first place because it's been so many years already. And he also shouldn't replied so rude too. So many years past but when we all look back, ruby acted with so many men but who still matches her the most it is still Er kang. And Er kang is only well known for being ruby's partner, there are no other actresses. She is his Zi Wei how can he be so mean? And he is also her Er kang, that is the beauty of the princess pearl. YUCK so many tongue kissing. I got to say Vincent and Alyssia are ok because they acted so many times together and were so cute together, did he took advantage of her too? LOL
what a pity man!! sound like a loser lol
so Daniel is jealous type guy. Hope they last as an actress she do have lot of intimate scenes .
@happybi ikr its crazy
@bubbletea You made me think of that dry piece of salmon again....
@cutie777 yes, Grace should eat the lavish meal that she made for Kevin. Eat that or a pizza and a milkshake. She and Karena Ng could both use a good fifteen pounds on their framed.
@anon Just opened up the theme song of OCTB 2017 and the cast looks amazing. It's a combination of experience and talent without dependency on idols. There's certainly no 'Pakho Chau' type of actor in there. If this is an internet series then this must be the future! We won't have to rely on TVB's monopoly, its rotation of idol actors and ridiculously flawed scripts.
Watched first episode of OCTB 2017! So good! Way better than this drama!
@bubbletea I don't think you can blame her for simply answering a question and some of the questions fired at her will no doubt be related to Kevin. She can't exactly blank the reporter and walk away.Reporters also ask questions regarding the events and the brands the celebrities are advertising for though those questions will be cut out from the entertsinment news. If she just blanked them or scolded them, she wouldnt be hired again and also TVB would to give her screen time again.
@happybi I would separate it into two categories really. If a girl was new to the entertainment scene and not well known but was trying to date rich heirs, I would class most of them as gold diggers. If an actress was relatively known and has status within the entertainment industry then it's normal for them to meet a wealthy boyfriend. It would be weird for a woman to be coupled with a lower earner or a low working class guy. Similarly outside the entertainment circle if a high rank/paid woman was dating a low rank/paid man then likely incompatible issues will appear.
@karina I agree with you in the respect that it's just a scene. It's not a big deal unless a the actress is trying to generate noise for the series. Showing those examples above of tongue kisses is pointless because firstly we don't know what type of scene they are from the snaps. If it was a forced kiss or rape scene then it is appropriate and secondly I would expect 99% of the time the costars would have discussed it beforehand. Even if they didn't discuss either of them can stop anytime and reconsider how to act out the scene again. Its not a big deal. Shows fans can be blind and crazy.
126 lbs for a 5'6!!!!! man I'm jealous! But yes in HK standard, probably consider fat.. just so wrong!
Baby is tiny! Hand is so small and cute! Happy for them for sure.
Super happy for her as she always seem ready to be a Mom!! Congratulations! Doesn't matter the sex as long as baby is healthy!
@cutie777 Yep..Problem with being in the entertainment business.. They are all consider gold digger if they start dating a rich guy!
That guy is obviously trying to cause trouble to bring something up from 13 yrs ago and to blame the victim! Talk about holding grudges!!! It's not a simple kiss scene if he god damn use a tongue! Especially, if she wasn't expecting it! Totally gross! Want what is wrong with those people for harassing them?! sick sick people!
@karina So you're ok with some dude shoving their tongue into your mouth at any time? What if one of your male coworkers decided to so that to you? You'll still be ok with that? Come on, what kind of nonsense is that.
Soooo the dude decides to victim-blame and baselessly drag in anti-China sentiments in order to give his stupid argument any credibility (which it still doesn't), and those mindless sheep netizens, who are no doubt his dumb fans or men who have also forces themselves on women, decide to attack Ruby Lin for it??? Are people that stupid? If Zhou Jie did not first ask for permission to french kiss her, he most definitely violated her rights. End of story. Shameful.
I really liked the original series, and I like this one too. But I feel like a lot of the storyline in this is very similar to the first one. Also it's almost as if Priscilla and Pak Ho characters could easily have been played back by Charmaine and Raymond.
These french kissing pics are gross. The poor girl in pic 4 looked so violated. These actors are taking advantage of the actresses (except pic 2 which looked like it was the woman's tongue in the man's lol). It's supposed to be only pretend kiss by which i don't mean a superficial peck on the lips but tongue in the mouth feels like being raped. Gross!
Geez looks like she haven't ate much I mean looked at her? All boney and she needed some meat she's way too skinny.
Lol. Every time when someone on a relationship the reporters always bought up saying he's got a rich girlfriend or she's got a rich boyfriend I mean really?
Wow..congratulations but became a father first time at the age 50's? Too bad can't see the daughter face and doesn't say her name either. Aaron reminds me Huang Xiao Ming only takes a picture of his son hand that's all and still haven't announced his son name either accept calling him little sponge?
Gotta say Ruby was wrong if she intended to "put down" mainlanders" but this article didn't mention whether she did it explicitly or not. Plus 13 years was a loong tme ago and people can change? lol. And it was just a KISS scene.. like c'mon dude. Celebrities can be so petty and so can fanboys/girls.
@orchid123 Its English name is Starry Starry Talk (Telling Maria Srs 4). Chinese name is 最佳拍檔...it airs in HK every Sunday but not sure what time. If you're in the U.S., you can watch every episode on TVB USA's official program portal encoreTVB (the only "legal" way in the U.S. to watch TVB content online at the moment). If you're in HK, I'm pretty sure it's on myTV and/or myTV Super as well... They've aired up to episode 3 now....the one with Wayne and Sheren was the first episode, which aired 3 Sundays ago.
@jjwong LOL….yup, though I also want to re-watch older series aside from the 2 that Sheren and Wayne collaborated in. I recently re-watched “The Challenge of Life” (and loved every minute of it) but now feel like watching it yet again due to Sean and Wayne’s little “bromance” moment in that interview, lol. I also haven’t watched “A Vixen’s Tale” in a long time and don’t remember much from it anymore so yea, that series is probably due for a re-watch (though I know I will probably think about Roger entertaining Sheren with Leslie imitation off-screen and bust out laughing, lol). Yes, episode 2 was pretty good as well. Nat definitely needs to stick to hosting, as that’s where his strength is – he’s an above average “talker” and that’s really what hosting needs. Eric will always have my respect due to his contributions to the industry and yes, he may come off as a joker most of the time but he does have a very real and sensitive side. I love Lawrence Cheng – he’s one of my all-time favorite hosts but he is also a genuinely talented scriptwriter, producer, director, actor, radio personality, etc. Probably because I grew up watching Lawrence but every time I think of JSG, I automatically think of him (since he was JSG’s host for the longest time)…also every time I think of MHK, I think of him, Ivan Ho, and Paul Chung (3 of the best hosts TVB ever had – on the male side that is). I think he’s still teaching the classes off and on, but it’s a side gig for him, since his focus is in movies nowadays. Btw, did you watch episode 3 yet? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it! Maria invited Michael Tao, Bobby Au Yeung, and William So to talk about their collaboration in Files of Justice, which is currently airing in TVB’s midnight timeslot. The 3 of them have awesome chemistry (especially Michael and Bobby) and are absolutely hilarious!! Some of the stuff they reveal about their female co-stars at the time (Amy Chan, Faye Wong, Sammi Cheng, Eugenia Lau, etc.) was interesting and funny. Oh and for those who may not have seen any of Bobby and Michael’s series prior to the 90s, you’re in for a “treat”, as they include “old” (more like “vintage” at this point, lol) clips featuring very young versions of Bobby (back when he was still using his “real” name rather than his current stage name and he still had a full head of hair and was actually skinny, lol) and Michael…oh and William too, though honestly his looks haven’t really changed much – they had a brief clip from “A Friend in Need” from 1988 and I remember him looking almost exactly the same in that series except for the hairstyle.
Just when we thought it was becoming safe, as we have not gotten over Grace's elaborate meal yet, Windmill Mouth is at it again. Will Miss Yakity Yak ever tone down?
@jimmyszeto Yea. Die hard fans need to realize blindly support idol does their idol disservice. They also need to realize that they don't need to be blind and reject good acting from others to bring up their idol. SMH.
Woohoo! Baby news!
It happened in Part 2 right? I think it has been taken out of context as well. Whatever he said or she said, it should not have been spun out of control to become a war between Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese people. Ruby has kissed a lot of Mainland Chinese costars and there has been no similar complaint so I think she was just shocked and surprised by him during filming. Geez, 13 years has passed, Zhang Jie please give it a rest and move on. And regarding French Kissing, I always felt that it was weird to see in an ancient series/film since it is a modern thing. I actually prefer seeing hugs or hand-holding for the subtle ancient series.
Surprisingly I enjoyed this series. I don't even mind the whole amnesia. The ending is fitting! I have a whole perspective for Nancy Kit. She IS good. Though her char is suppose to be annoying, I feel her and see the related aspects for that generation. Roxanne is definitely be watch out. She seems natural and has potentially. Chris Lai, on the other hand, missed the mark for me. His drama, hurtful, feel scenes fell short. This series is simple but heartfell and relatable. I root for Nancy as BSA. Roxanne as new comer though TVB has no such award lol. She's still too new and raw foe MI.
@llwy12 Me too! I wanna watch Rosy Business again. Now that is a series I admire. BTW, I watched eps 2 with the hosts partnership. I like them. Nat definitely needs to stick to hosting and not acting. Eric seems so real. Ah "Egg" Gor is such a natural host. Is he still actively teach acting class? Hope so. The clips they showed are still funny and great. Now those are classics! Srsly though, Maria has a lot of strings to pull! Lol.
@melia880 here's the video of Ruby on "康熙來了" (starts at approx 24:50) https://youtu.be/T01QtbdiszU?t=24m51s I always felt that Ruby Lin looked really uncomfortable in every romantic scene in Princess Pearl with Zhou Jie (周杰). Zhou Jie looks like a really aggressive kisser from the way he kisses her.
Those pictures look gross. Tongue doesn't mean natural. It looked more force and nasty. Lol. Back on topic, did he really bought up more than decade later? Was this out of context? If he really did, what a pitiful man! The Chinese Netizens are even more pitiful, such blind worship.
@bubbles23 Not upset, mate. It's more like a pity that you and younger generation missing out on good acting solely because the actor or actress is older. If eye candy you're looking for, consider like Mr. HK or fashion show or the likes emphasize on looks. Movies should be watch for plot and acting. Sure there are idol drama, but those idols will age with no substance. Don't you get bored with Idols drama? They're essentially same theme and plot and close up shots, lol. I recommend you expand your horizon and taste, give more substance actors and actresses a chance. Look pass the facade. Enjoy!
@jjwong Like I mentioned this this @66ksc has no common sense or just lying to herself constantly until it seems reality. Like you mentioned,an actor with his eyes knocked out for 30 years would have been tailor made for the role. It goes to show the lengths of dillusional behaviour that desperate fans will go, to protect their idol. Firstly 'Joel's character was created by TVB on purpose to steal the limelight from Ruco and promote Joel instead' and 'every role Vincent has played recently has been tailor made for him' although every role has been totally different. It's highly embarrassing and cringeworthy.
I must say I had to roll my eyes a bit at this article. 1. Classic victim blaming. Maybe he should have asked her before he stuck his tongue in her mouth, rather than saying SHE should have stopped it? 2. I didn't actually watch her interview so I could be misinformed, but how on earth does that indicate she's putting down Mainlanders? 3. Also just basing this off of my limited knowledge from the article - but why on earth did he bring up something she said in an interview 13 years ago? Is he bored or is he lacking publicity? 4. What are people even hating on Ruby for? For not stopping him for sticking his tongue in her mouth, or for "putting down Mainlanders"? Because, gosh, you need to be a sheep to think this is putting ALL Mainlanders down if she is just referring to him and what he did. Again, based off of my limited knowledge of the situation - so if anyone knows more about this, I'd love to know more and be corrected or otherwise.
@orchid123 Interesting info and thanks for the links. For native speakers, i don't think it occurs frequently, maybe now and then especially when one is speaking fast.
@passingby Lazy Intonations: If you are born and raised in overseas, I guess it is very hard for you to tell what is lazy intonation. You might have learned how to speak and understand Cantonese either from your parents, friends, or TVB drama series. Therefore, it is very important for TVB artistes to speak proper Cantonese. However, if a person is born and raised in Hong Kong, he/she should speak proper Cantonese without any lazy intonations. Lazy intonation occurs when a person pronounces a Chinese character incorrectly or by off a bit. The following are two links where you can learn more about lazy intonations in Cantonese. The first one is taken from YouTube. Watch it if you can understand Cantonese. The second link is an article written on Wikipedia about Proper Cantonese Pronunciation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gpU9xOVxic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proper_Cantonese_pronunciation Personally I think school teachers, educators, and artistes (either from TV or radio stations) in Hong Kong should speak Cantonese with proper pronunciation. Teachers and educators are the people to teach the second generation proper Cantonese, and TVB drama series will "educate and influence" lots of people speaking Cantonese anywhere in the world.
@jimmyszeto @jjwong I'm sorry that my comment got yall upset, didn't mean to. I'm not hating on Lam, and I agree it is unfortunate most people base things off of looks. But that's apparently how it is, and how the industry is. Many people I know, do in fact avoid watching shows with people that aren't from their generation.
I feel like this will become a circle of death conversation. So I'll say my note on this matter and then take my peace out ..v. @66ksc Do you know what "overrated" mean? Vincent has no accolades, not in TVB anniversary or heavy contender+ series and mostly in with 2nd or 3rd rate line of actors/actresses. While the beloved Ruco given rewards, series with heavy names and lead meaty roles. How is LM a "tailored" role for Vincent? He's not blind nor has he played a lawyer before. He played spoiled brat, greedy landlord, stingy poor, rich boy UC, lawyer to name a few. They all have been portrayed differently and almost convincing. At least he tried to research or do his role well. I just hope he continues to hone his skills and does not all sudden go down hill if/when he gets TVB typical lead treatment that so many before him experienced/cursed. Stop it. No one is saying Ruco suck. He is a good and decent actor too. Though if he is great, he could've pulled Fist char, regardless the char's age, better. Just as Fist and Unholy, different age chars but he essentially acted the same in both.
@kirigiri Not entirely sure. However, if I'm not wrong (please correct me if I'm wrong) but we have been able to watch all 28 episodes of legal mavericks probably 2-3 weeks after TVB broadcasted all of those episodes. I suppose we might be able to watch from 11-20 next week...
@jimmyszeto As long as its not illegal, tvb can do whatever they want. They used different actors with different acting skill different conversation different music. They not copy the same sound track and script. You can copy the idea not even the police or court will convict you. Just like you can copy the idea to cook fried chicken spicy. Will people catch you? You registered the chicken idea and others cannot use chicken to cook spicy chicken? But if without tip top acting, how you copy the idea for your drama also useless and no 100million viewers within 14 hours for sure.
@jjwong i am not joking and please dont embarass yourself. There is no such thing as plagiarism here. Are the actors repeating the same words, same shirts and sound track or any sound with the other movie? Majority just want to enjoy top acting drama not enjoying new idea and story. So dont crapping on your own preference into everyone else.
Does anyone know if Tencent video will continue uploading the next set of 5-10 episodes?
@lam86 Please watch the movies and the series carefully first. It's not just robbery, triads and murder that are copied. It's also the more intricate details and actions of characters. I can't comment on whether it's legal or not because I don't know but I feel it's quite unethical (unless permission is granted by original owners) because the original script writers, producers and actors have put in a lot of effort into their work. In this case the plot was copied from a very successful award winning movie franchise and the characters that were taken were absolute classics characters.
@66ksc It's quite obvious that you have no common sense and no concept of mathematics. Without these basic attributes it's quite difficult for you to enter discussions on this site and also to do well in any profession.
@jjwong I have to admit I quite like Line Walker 1 up until the last few episodes where they used the typical main actor Michael Miu became 'black cop' and pretended to kill Raymond and Charmaine to gain trust of the leader. It's the same as The Unholy Alliance apart from TUA went downhill after a couple of episodes. Line Walker 2 is a much better series due to it being well directed with a movie feel but that was to be expected because the Borderline was well directed. You are correct that the same main storyline has been copied from the original. Police Handler dies and Michael Miu is looking for the police undercovers who have lost their files. However, many of the characters and settings are fully copied from Infernal Affairs I and II. I cant remember III because a lot of it was in mandarin and I've only seen it once. Moses calm and intelligent quiet character and triad family is plagiarised from IA II and Brian Tse character is almost copied to the exact original Chapman To character. There's no other role out there that talks like Chapman To's 'Sor Keung' and Brian Tse is doing it quite well. The whole Thailand drugs was used in IA II sequel and Eric Tsang had to get past big boss Francis Ng's to get into a powerful position in IA I. We all know that Benz is powerful in Line Walker 1 but he needs to get past Moses first. I'm not going to give TVB the full rejection for plagiarising as long as the series makes sense and the performances are good. I wouldn't argue for the sake of it unlike some members and I don't have any idols. My philosophy is 'credit where credit is due' and not 'I love Ruco'
I just finished watching the first episode but no, i didn't get hooked lol! Will catch more episodes when time permits before i decide if it's worth chasing.
i've read this word "lazy tones" being thrown around in this JS forum several times. As I'm not a native Cantonese speaker, can someone pl enlighten me what exactly it means when someone has lazy tones? Does it mean that he "swallows" his words when he speaks? TIA.
@jimmyszeto Give me the percentage for all forums then-don't forget you said "everyone". Don't treat those points you disagree as my conspiracy theory which might be facts.Joel was already given more screen time in Burning Hands but that character failed. Stubborness and preferences are not for me alone. Read your own comments. Anyway, I will stop here, no way to argue with someone with fixed attitude.
Vincent Wong is overrated. He overacts in emotional scenes. He's got the right roles to shine in EU, My Unfair Lady, LM. But I find him using the same mode in portraying characters for the first two series. LM is tailormade to showcase his acting, yet he's way too weak in delivering his dialogues as a lawyer. Lam Wai Sun's court shows definitely outshine him with clear and precise tone of speech and natural facial expressions. Vincent's dialogues are flat and unclear which is his greatest weak point. Agree that Ruco has lazy tones, but he can deliver his dialogues clearly with right intonations according to emotions. Am still impressed how he, as Keith the barrister, delivered his final statement for a murder case in The Other Truth, sensational and touching which moved lots of viewers. It's the barrister role which made him pop out and admired by tons of viewers, despite his now and then lazy tone. He already proved his versatility in handling completely different roles in TOT, Brothers' Keeper, ROE, Eye in the sky, COD etc. and don't forget Kuen Lo in AFWFW was not tailor-made for him-he picked it second-hand for a character that is 13 years younger but was widely admired by majority audience. Of course, every actor has room for improvement and there are roles they can't handle. Vincent needs more shows to prove his versatility, not just 2 or 3 tailor-made.
@lileric I am watching it. I am more interested in OCTB than any other TVB series that is out at the moment The cast is all veteran yet a refreshing mix. I will watch anything that has Hugo Ng in it. I just wish there was more information about it online. Shame that such good series was not promoted. I only knew about it as I was watching "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and the trailer popped up. I think everyone should give it a go.
@jimmyszeto I had to look up who Brain Tse is... Sound like he took Oscar's role. Poor Oscar, so typecast and forgotten. Did you like LW 1 too then? From what I gathered, it's pretty much in lined with LW1. MM found Charm/Priscilla first. They then found Sammy/Pakho. The bad group is run by mysterious and fearsome boss, Benz/Moses. The did-UC-turn-back "mystery" cliche is Raymond/Jessica. Somewhat outlair is Sharon/Benjamin. So really, is it IA they copied or more like they copied their own work, which most likely did copied from IA lol. Regardless, I'm still sticking to my gun of not watching. It's all the same more or less. No fun. -_-;
@lileric watched the first 2 episodes and I must say that it’s very good haha . Definitely worth giving it a try
Anyone have any idea about this series "反黑 - OCTB": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qJaP5U4vQE I didn't even know this was in production, and its actually in an official channel on youtube. It's got quite the cast.
@jjwong Although it's lazy writing but I love Infernal Affairs. I can't help but watch this even though its as blatant as it gets. Watch Brian Tse and rewatch Chapman To's breakthrough role. Watch Moses and watch Ngai family boss Francis. Would have taken a couple of hours for the TVB writers to use Infernal Affairs and change a few things.
@lam86 Um, you're bloody joking right? It's one thing to be inspired by an idea. It's completely another to bluntly copy from char to char and play to play. It's plagiarized, where you take someone else work and call it your own. As @jimmyszeto pointed out all that chars and plots are one to one lifted from IA. It's not brilliant. It's lazy writing. Good number of people watch doesn't equal top notch story. Now, I can guess great performance from Benz and Michael since they've proven themselves in other works. But that doesn't mean it's automatically good script. As @llwy12 pointed out, it's script and plot that are weak, or rather just taken from someone else's work. Why then the credits should be given to copier? TVB in this case, hrm? I won't entertain you with TVB vs HKTV because you already made your mind and worship TVB. So it'll be like talking to a wall. Have a nice, blindful life. /peace
